You're wrong. Go to Google maps right now and type in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The time that pops up is 1 hr, 3 mins.

Ponca, where most people get into the Buffalo River, is 1 hr 13 mins if you use the same app. Not sure why you want to claim otherwise. Anyone who travels to either regularly knows that both are "about an hour away" from Fayetteville.

People put in at Ponca. But you have to drive to Kyle's Landing to drop off a car. But I guess you're right about that time. I just always pass it to go to KL or Ozark.

Though I will say, the Buffalo is the best canoe paddle I've ever seen. Probably the best in America. Anything that scenic almost always requires a raft and safety gear. I've done the Buffalo while on psychedelics and got down without a problem. Being able to pull over wherever and camp, makes it worth going back for vacation.

I've always thought it would be a nice town to visit - just too far away to actually go.

LOL. Fayetteville is easily the best college town in the SEC West. Athens is the only better one in the SEC, depending on your metric.

This.
Athens has the better town, but not by a wide margin. Fayetteville has a much better region, and is doing very very well. Athens has hills, the mountains are an hour away, major city an hour away, ocean four hours away, skiing three hours away, etc.

I was really happy when LSU started going to Fayetteville but I'd rank Athens over Fayetteville

that would look better if they took those columns down.

They obstruct the view of a nice looking building and serve no purpose.

Athens and Chapel Hill and Austin are the most overrated college towns.

There are some rough looking areas near downtown Athens.

In some ways, Arkansas seems most similar SEC school to Clemson.

Although those pics that were posted of traffic in Fayetteville on another thread gives me pause.

i never said Athens is bad. Just overrated. You can get a similar experience to Athens/UGA at numerous large universities in this country.

My trash talk about it is only in response to UGA fans trashing Clemson.

That's mostly likely where I would have wanted to go to college if I grew up in GA.

Those pictures are awesome.

But it does not make up for having such a shitty football team.

All I know is Baton Rouge and Starkville are by far the worst SEC towns.

the weird thing about Starkville is it doesn't have a college town area adjacent to campus, although I guess the Cotton District is starting to become that.

Even in Oxford, there aren't any restaurants and bars adjacent to campus.

So no more excuses about "can't recruit to Arkansas"?
