You know some of the greatest minds in the history of humanity were deeply religious, right?

For instance, Isaac Newton was a devout Anglican who spent much of his life studying and memorizing the bible.

Only because there was no reasonable reason to not be.

However, with the advancements of mathematics, science, and biology; There are very clear reasons to choose to not believe. Notice all brilliant scientific minds now stray far away? Notice IVY league schools have the lowest percentage of religious students? There is a reason. Logic dictates religion is irrational.

Actually it's very correct. There was no reason to believe there was no God. Now there is. No, religion is at it's basic essence illogical. You choose to pass off logic and reason for belief and faith. There are only two things your religion holds too: Belief and faith. The same principles established by EVERY religion man has ever created. Believing your religion, which lacks zero evidence for its claims, is the truth. That is what we call illogical. You could be right of course, but most likely you are wrong. Just based on the fact that you have offered no reason anyone should believe you have it correct, and all other religions were dead wrong.

Again, that's your logic, not mine.

I personally DGAF what anyone believes or doesn't. I believe what I believe and have my own reasons for it that I don't expect others to necessarily understand or agree with.

The point here in this thread, though, is that someone's faith shouldn't allow them to rename someone else's child because they disagree with it.

Fair enough. And the first spur was just for a reaction. I believe in possibilities personally. Just can't find more than that till it's shown.

That, and give them a viable minority candidate to vote for on the GOP ticket.

I'd vote for:

I answer this with ... you shouldn't be allowed to birth children if you name your kid Messiah and can't decide what the last name should be.

When I was a kid I must have been an adopted hispanic kid who's birth parents were named Christ. I never did find out what my full middle name was but I know it begins with H.

These crazy hillbillies don't give a frick, they shot at the FBI during all those raids, cops from other districts don't venture into Cocke County.

They officially don't give a frick. You think you don't give a frick? They don't give a frick. Nobody gives less of a frick than Cocke County. If Nelson Mandela was hangin' from a cliff, gettin' ready to fall to his death--that's right--and a Newport resident was at the top of the cliff, and all he needed was a frick to save his life, and the Newport Resident had a pocket full of fricks...he wouldn't give him one.

He'd be like "Hey, please sir, I need a frick!" and the Newport resident would reply
"Ohh, you know I don't give a frick. Here's a frick.........................psych!"

I just want people to leave each other the frick alone. Both the Judge and 08Gator are wrong. Different views, but both wrong. It seems that atheists are even more pushy than the vast majority of Christians.

Meh. I'm an atheist, but I'm not pushy about it. I don't even talk about religion with anyone off of the internet.
