I dig pelicans, but I don't think they make a good team mascot. I was aware of the UCSC Banana Slugs, because I used to live near there... That's certainly worse.

The mascot for the Arkansas School for the Deaf is the Leopards.
Deaf Leopards. I'm not kidding, that's their real mascot.

We still had a big 'ol okra wearing boxing gloves on our soccer jerseys, though... We took a lot of crap for that when we played at other schools.
We liked wearing the okra instead of the Statesmen mascot, though...
