Not from Dothan but I do have good memories of the city. Dothan had some serious "talent". The best looking girlfriend I had at Alabama was from Dothan (Crimson Cabaret member).
I played a lot of junior golf growing up and played in the Future Masters a few times in the last 80s/early 90s. I grew up playing junior golf with Stewart Cink, Boo Weekley, and Heath Slocum. I remember Charles Howell III, Bubba Watson, and Ben Curtis also playing in the Future Masters when I played but they were in the younger age divisions. Speaking of golf and Dothan, what's the deal these days with Olympia Spa? My brother and sister in law stopped by there on the way through and said it looked kind of rough. Has it gone downhill? Played in a Pro Junior there when I was like 11 and remember it fondly but I haven't been by there in many years.
Random note. Dothan was the first and last time I ever went to a Showbiz Pizza. The whole production with the animatronic band playing kinda freaked me out.

The Spa has been going downhill for over 20+ years. Have had several owners, not investing enough money in the course. It actually closed a couple of months ago, and just recently reopened. When I was a kid, it was the premier golf course in the area, unfortunately now it's a goat track.

That's kinda what I heard. It was considered "premier" back in the 80s during that tournament. How is Dothan Country Club these days? The course was fun as a junior golfer but they eventually had to move the Future Masters to the RTJ course because the technology was outpacing the course. The Future Masters attacted most of the top junior golfers in the country and they were shooting ridiculous numbers on the course and that was 20 years ago.

Actually, they only moved it so the DCC could update the course and the Future Masters is still being played at the country club. It's in good shape, plays a little bit longer if I am not mistaken.

Until he failed Mrs. White's fifth grade class
so he ended up graduating a year behind us. Nice guy but not the brightest. Him being the #2 prospect in the country made games fun.

He was a senior during my one semester, so it looks like we just missed over lapping there.
There was a big dude in that class as well that played o-line at UF. Can't remember his name. My sister graduated in that class as well, but she was only there for her senior year.

Looks that way. You probably were there with my sister. She would have been a sophomore when Thad was a senior.
Eta yeah, I think his name was Johnson...have to pull my yearbook. He ended up leaving UF, I think.

Their regular menu is very good. And it's usually not crowded at all or has long lines unless it's spring break

Is there any thing down there besides towns that features nothing but shacks?

I got some cousins that lived in Dothan. I think they all moved to Auburn.....
I only go to Thomas Donuts over the summer when we are down there. Every AM we've been, it's been a 30 min to 1 hr wait.

Besides Dothan, is there really any notable places?

Well we've been talking about the beach in a lot of this thread. If you think there's more going on in North Alabama, you're retarded.
