Back in the day when I was in school there, Crechale’s was a great place to go. Not sure bout now

Advise: leave the inventory and the help alone.

Got back yesterday from another 2 weeks. I am about halfway through the menu of beers at The Bulldog. I tried a few new places. I really liked Doe’s Eat Place. The redfish with shrimp etouffee was really good.
Pho Houng is legit. It is authentic and has some great pho. You know you are at a good joint when tendon and tripe are options in the pho.
I am working in Yazoo City a lot and it sucks really bad. However, some people took me to a really good soul food joint. It was a real hole in the wall place called Thelma’s Kitchen. The catfish and collard greens were on point. The only highlight of Yazoo so far.

In Yazoo City, Tom’s on Main and Clancy’s are the only lunch places with a combination of good food and the don’t get shot factor.
eta: There’s a couple hamburger joints 5-10 minutes outside of town that are really good. Hall of Fame is basically just a shack south of town on 49, and Berry’s is a convenience store in Benton with a short order kitchen.
Also, 5 minutes out of town in the Delta is Hines Grocery. They have catfish on Thursday and Ribs on Friday for lunch.

Don’t lock your car doors. It will maybe save your windows from being broken.
Go to the burbs after dark.

Speaking of Yazoo area, if you are close enough to Flora go to Blue Rooster. Unreal Burger. Also the Flora Butcher's lunch is unreal. He has a limited menu in Flora but he has a full restaurant in Jackson only open for lunch called Dave's Triple B. Worth the trip downtown IMO. Wagu beef everything
Since you are staying in Ridgeland:
Breakfast:
Primos
Another Broken Egg
Beagle Bagel (Madison or Jackson but close enough and worth the drive)
Lunch:
Trace Grill (Southern Blue Plate)
Majestic Burger (sourdough bun is fire and they will put greek seasoning on the fries if you ask)
Cazadores (Mexican)
Krilakis (Greek gyros)
Dinner:
Shapley's (Steak)
Ely's (Steak)
Tico's (Steak)
Local 463 (great bar)
Seafood Revolution ($$$ but amazing and a cool bar)
Amerigo (Italian with good bar)
Fratesi's (Italian)
Anjou (French with cool bar)
Soulshine (Pizza and beer)
Lost Pizza (Pizza Pasta and beer)
Happy Hours.. best ones are in Jackson for the most part near the hospitals/UMMC and in Fondren :
Manship (Massive wine and liquor selection, pizza deal usually and its really good)
Surin (Tai Food but they have the best Sushi in town, and sushi is half off at happy hour. Amazing deal and lasts until 7pm)
Saltine (Oysters and beer, younger crowd)
Babalou (topas and margaritas)
If you like Pho and Vietnamese in general go across the spillway to Little Siagon Sandwich Shop. Not the one on lakeland, the one right by the Rez. Place is unreal and its really not that far from you.
Jackson gets a bad rep but its really not that bad.. Food choices here are really strong for the size.

I just got back from my fourth trip in Mississippi. I finally went to Shuckers on a Saturday night. It was packed and the band was good. Lots of talent in there as well.
We went to the Crawdad Hole one weekend. It was excellent. Great food and atmosphere. I really liked that it was BYOB. I hit up the usual spots. I now have a massive pint glass collection from The Bulldog. Wednesday night is pint night. You get to keep your glasses.
I may not be going back for a while. It was a lot better than I expected. Madison is a really nice town and the general area is pretty cool.
