I'd be willing to bet guys do that too. It seems in a large amount of threads, some guy will come in and tell a story that slightly relates to the thread, but not really.
Example: Thread is about Jeremy Hill being arrested.
Random Florida poster comment: Yeah. He's dumb. But I used to always go to this bar in Gainesville and I would always see people talking shite to the football players. I would usually try and step in and say "Man, don't do that. We need them on the team."
ETA: This was a fictional example.
