As long as you can find the enjoyable part of your job and focus on that. However if you end up doing the shitty part of intel and end up working shift and getting the shitty shift because you don't have kids or are single. Then life sucks real bad, because the only people you meet are the folks that work at your local 24hr grocery store, Denny's, Ihop, Waffle House, Huddle House or Kettle.

Yeah, that's pretty much the boat we're in now. Her squadron rotates shifts every month and a half or so, so she's always tired and trying to reset her sleep schedule. Not to mention I'm stuck working mids for the forseeable future, so there's long stretches of time where we don't see each other because our schedules just don't overlap.

Intel wasn't her first choice job, either. Job environment's just wearing on her, so when she can get out, she wants to, you know? Can't say I blame her. Military's kind of given both of us the short end of the stick but we're making the best of it.

Yea that really sucks, hopefully stuff will clear up for y'all when you get to transfer duties. Separate shifts suck real bad for people. Then a rotating one would make me real mad. Is there nothing one of y'all could qualify that would put you on a longer rotation? That's what I would be trying to do, of course the other end of that sword sucks too.

Man, we've tried everything. When I first got orders here my sponsor made it seem like it wouldn't be a problem for me to rotate with my wife's squadron's shifts, but when I got here I found out that wasn't really the case. And they basically laughed at my wife when she asked if she could be on my shift permanently. So we're kind of stuck with the current setup for the forseeable future.

We'll just play out the string in the military then cut ties. Really want to settle down and start a family, but there's just no way that's feasible right now.

USAF here was in Ammo, built bombs inspected bombs, tested missles, got to be around nukes. Yea I was one of the few that went into the Air Force and ended up doing exactly what I wanted to do. IYAAYAS!

I was going to fly for the USMC but I instead got a C-17 slot in the Air Force. Got a lot of flying ahead of me

You can only see them in museums or books, the F-117 retired.

C-130's, now that's a sexy piece of machinery.

C-130's were a pain in my arse when i worked supply at Little Rock AFB. I had to use a 10K forklift to drive a prop down to the flightline almost on a daily basis. Driving backwards almost a mile on a pretty busy street sucked. People wanted to kill me because of how slow i had to drive that forklift.

Seriously. I remember when those came out. It was the talk of the flight line. Damn I'm getting old.

Something practical. When I was younger I thought about something medical or press-related.

I would not have done well in the military though.

I was a 13F in the Army in the 80's & 90's and while I really enjoyed blowing stuff up, I wouldn't take that MOS again if I could. There isn't much civilian demand for someone that can call in artillery fire and humping a PRC-77 all over the place sucked balls.

I would choose an occupation by British soldiers. We've had it before, and it wasn't really so bad.

I would have loved being the SEAL who put the bullet in Osama bin Laden's left eye.
