General Studies, but that is to avoid foreign language and math requirements. All of my studies have been business, economics, and management.

Foreign languages were the bane of my existence. I started going deaf while I was in college and if you think understanding a native Spanish speaker is difficult wait until you can't hear half of what they are saying.

Thankfully I was finally able to convince the University to give me a waiver because there was no way in hell I could have passed advanced Spanish.

My story arc is almost identical to the OP. I still want to be an author, but like OP said, having an English major isn't going to help you sell books.

These days I work for myself in a completely unrelated field and am happy with my decision to quit school. For now anyways. I will most likely go back and finish at some point, but that's way on down the road. My work keeps me plenty busy.

I took a ton of Spanish classes too, but was still a few away from a minor.

Political Science and History.

Don't use any of them. I was in PR and adsales before I decided to switch careers to fire/rescue.

Other than a great time, college was a waste of money.
