What's the best Cruise line?

This past September, we finally popped our cruise cherry. It was a Royal Caribbean cruise. We enjoyed it and will probably try to go on another cruise next year. Just wondering if Royal Caribbean was the best option. It's just the wife and I, kids are grown.
I've always heard Carnival was the high school/college trip cruise line.
Disney was the family/kid focused cruises.
Royal Caribbean was the best for those with older or no kids.
Not really familiar with any of the other cruise lines out there.
If there are any cruise veterans out there with any advice?

For families I would agree, go with Disney but expect to pay out the ying yang.
I haven't been on a cruise but parents used to go on them once a year and they loved Royal Caribbean. Despite the name Royal Caribbean runs an Alaska cruise that my parents really enjoyed. Obviously not a dead of winter sort of thing but during the summer you might like that.
There is a metric buttload of cruise reviews on Youtube. I suggest watching a few of those from the more highly rated reviewers to get a feel for what you are looking for.

there are some cruise lines that are STUPID awesome but have associated price tags.
Disney-great line but you pay for the NAME.
Royal Carribean- excellent line and ships are great for the family.
Princess- I really like this line a lot. Cruised most with them. Very good food and their standard fare is better than most of the other lines until you get to the "upgrade" meals. Excellent.
Norwegian- you'll get a balcony anywhere but the food is JUST average. I cruised with them once and the ship felt crowded (few bar areas and I think only one pool).
Carnival- budget cruising.

I was going to say avoid the White Star Line (Titanic). But in my research to make a one line joke, I discovered that there is still a White Star Line around. So I’ll refrain from besmirching them.
As for cruises, never taken one. I don’t get in boats I’m not driving. Stay away from any cruise that is being aggressively advertised in the College Station area, would be my only recommendation.

Enjoyed Disney Cruise out of Cape Canaveral when our kids were young.
Been on a Carnival cruise out of New Orleans one Christmas and my wife and I are doing another Carnival cruise this February. We always get the Cheers Package to cover our drinks on the boat.
Never ran into any service or customer satisfaction issues on either of the past two cruises.

I like Princess and Holland America. I'm a pretty lowkey person in general and these lines feel more like floating Westin hotels than the others. If you're more social, RCL might be best

Depends.
Trashy is carnival. NcL is next. Then Royal. Then Princess, Holland America and c Celebrity.
Then you get to more luxury options.
We have cruised on Princess most, but also Celebrity.

If you don’t have kids, try Virgin Voyages. Their ships are brand new, food is excellent (no buffets), great entertainment and no kids running around

It honestly depends on what you value
Money
Luxury
Experience
Port of Call
etc etc etc

Death has the answer. We took a 7 day cruise in Alaska and then 5 days on land. Did a lot of extra stuff and didn't attempt to "save" money. Had a blast.

About Virgin…it’s a very alphabet friendly ship, to put it mildly. Expect every show or event to eventually turn into a drag show. Ship and crew are nice enough. I found the food to be average but there was a lot of choices. Carnival is what it is. Fun, cheap and the food is edible. Next up is Alaska with Royal this summer.

The one that has Jam Cruise booked on it, only cruise worth going on.

No, idea. What I can tell you is I’ve heard Carnival is one of the worst.

The only cruise I'd ever go on would be the US Navy.
