There was a good dive titty bar in Prattville, but the authorities shut it down, which really was a shame.

There are some really great restaurants and hotels where I-65 and the southern bypass meet. Crack is plentiful and so are the women.
Seriously, if you are staying at EastChase, I would recommend hanging in that area if you are drinking. If you have the cash for a cab, the downtown area where the Alley is located is pretty cool. And the Pizza place down there is the shite. And even though where you are staying is a "safe" area, make sure you don't leave anything that remotely looks valuable in your car. Last time I stayed there (Auburn vs LSU), LSU guy got his window smashed in and his wife's briefcase stolen.

The big thing that I noticed living here (four years now) is that the black people that I've come across are extremely polite and friendly. Numerous times when I go to a store in the morning, a black male or female will pass by me and either say Good Morning, or smile at me and say hi. The blacks here don't sound like those thugs in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. I've never had a problem living here. The one thing that I can't stand about this place is the redneck accent. Everybody here sounds like Gomer Pyle (yes I know that Jim Nabors is from here) but that country accent really gets on your nerves. I've been to every southern state, and believe me, this is the only one that has a prominent country accent.

I spent my 20's traveling to Montgomery for work and staying 1-2 nights a week.
Next time try to stay downtown. That ice bar is a novelty and amusing - one time. Eastchase is chain restaurant mecca, but then again the best restaurant downtown now is Wintzell's and that's a chain, too.
There is not much to recommend; however, I was caught up on my reading.

For all the cracking on Montgomery, the Prattville area nearby has a fantastic Robert Trent Jones trail site. "The Judge" is legit and a fantastic golf course so bring your clubs with you if you've got the time.

Oh, I don't know. Maybe the fact that Montgomery's averaging a murder every 4 1/2 days this year?
