Hangovers are just dehydration.
quote:
The hangover is from dehydration and your sugar crashing.
Hangovers are the result of ethanol being converted to acetaldehyde, which builds up and produces the typical hangover symptoms.
Now, dehydration can amplify the symptoms but nobody ever avoided a hangover by simply chugging water/Gatorade before/after drinking.
The only way to avoid a hangover is to avoid drinking too much (varies from person to person). Everything else is placebo/wives tales.

Drink about 20oz. of water before going to bed

I drink a bottle of water, and take a couple of Tylenol before I pass out (if I remember to).

Pace your drinks to where you drink a glass of water between every drink. It fricking sucks but its the only thing that I have found to help post age 23 or so. If you could avoid aging that would be best. I find that vitamin water/Gatorade etc before bed just doesnt cut it. Think it's got to do with how much sugar they have.
As far as drugs go, taking ibu or aleve before bed can help for sure. Be careful with these NSAIDS if you have stomach issues though ie ulcers, but shouldn't hurt your liver. Avoid tylenol/apap products as they amplify the damage alcohol can do to your liver if taken in excess

Not drinking is my best strategy

Clear liquors, drink water, gatorade/pedialyte before bed. Aspirin in the morning with some fatty food.
Hangovers are mostly dehyration, but there are other factors at play such as depletion of magnesium.

Before bed drink some pedialyte and a gatorade and eat a bunch of food. Rehydrating goes without saying, but my worst hangovers are when i dont eat before sleep

I quit drinking and had no hangover since.

I just drink a shite ton of water and lie down on the couch for a while

Gatorade, BC powder, a little bite to eat, shower, lie down under an a/c vent in underwear only. Good to go after about an hour of that.

I've only been slightly hungover once. I mixed Goody's powder with gatorade and took my vitamin pill. I felt pretty much normal after that

Wash down a Benadryl with a 12 oz can of V8 before you pass out

They are doing these in a lot of cities now:

Totally worth the money if you can't piss away a whole day recovering. Otherwise, a big bottle of gatoraide and the steamroom/hot tub/sauna triathalon seems to do me well
