It can be made from synthetic material or real hair (expensive).

It’s “sewn” in.

(things I learned while teaching at a majority minority two-year college)

They played with my hair all through high school. Got me in trouble too many times. Sleeping in class.

Weave used to be glued in as tracks of hair, now it’s mostly lace front weaves that are sewed in. Yes, my Healthcare executive wife wear it from time to time. She has braids now that I can pull when delivering the D!

In my experience if a black woman's hair is straight or wavy then don't touch it. If it's obviously natural, which is how I prefer it, then go to town. Assuming it's "on" in a sexual sense, otherwise don't touch anybodies fricking no matter their ethnicity. Unless you want to end up like Al Franken.

is touching black womens hair a thing?

From the girls at work:

"Never ask if the hair is real and definitely don't ever touch it unless you want to get back handed"

I grew up in Pine Bluff, we got all that curious, mutual hair touching out of the way early and innocently. Not to say I wouldn't give some natural hair on an attractive sister some attention.
