Being gay is different from being a minority because you have an option of masking it or not. Whether a gay person takes advantage of that or not is beside the point, and that's the fundamental difference between gay rights and civil rights.

A person can mask what race they are very easily.

Depends on what you're defining as marriage rights. Are we talking about the government's definition of marriage rights? Because if so, gay couples do not have those same rights.

So fricked up. I've heard this a couple of times in this thread and had never really looked at that aspect of it before. I didn't know that you had to be the spouse. What about a straight couple who aren't married but have been together for a number of years?

Because if my wife and I were not married right now and she was dying it would take more than a couple of motherfrickers to get me away from her bed and out of that room.

This is silly...it seems like they are trying to somehow spin Stonehog being in support of gay rights into him being racist.

I don't give a damn either way.

I do know I'm sick of hearing about it.

In Kentucky, because they tied the gay marriage vote in this state to civil unions and common law marriages (7 years) it all got swept out the door. Now I don't know what you could do legally outside of marriage to change that, I'm sure there's something. It's just pitiful that you would have to.

A gay man can go marry a woman just like I can. Their rights are identical.

So a gay man should have to fraudulently marry a woman, whom he does not love nor wants to live with/have children with, to obtain marriage "rights" as you and I have?

So encouraging to promote that.

I'm not trying to spin anything. Never once implied that Stonehog was racist. I answered the OP truthfully and he has since come flying in with accusations of me being bigoted/discriminatory, which is laughable to say the least

Yes. But what does that have to do with this discussion?

Perspective. Which is one of the reasons we won't see eye to eye on this. I ain't gonna try to change your mind (pointless endeavor on a message board anyway), but your immediate reaction to my views says more about you than anything.
