Rules:

- The jump must be at least 500 years or more.
- You can't come back, you're stuck whenever and wherever you go.
- You can carry whatever you can fit on your body and in a back pack.

Would you rather go forward or backward in time, what would you bring, and what time/place would you go?

Backwards to the Roman era and I’d bring books like Principia and engineering books.

Forward. Easily. I've already seen 1518 Alabama. Maybe something could possibly change in the next 500 years.

It would have been interesting to see the Battle of Thermopylae.

It would have to be forward even though I'm sure I would be a lab specimen for planet 100% occupied by lesbian Amazons and their robots.

Backwards they would kill me for being a witch or I would die of Typhus.

No toilet paper, Gold Bond, Neosporin, air conditioning or duct tape 500 years ago. Those are my parameters.

Forward.
I enjoy today and would love to see what technology is like in 2518
I sure as hell wouldn’t wanna go back to the 1500s we already knew what happened
I’d bring a backpack full of identification like passport, ID, birth certificate and proof that the time machine is legit so people in the future believe me

I would guess 1518 Bama and Today wouldn’t be much different

Future. Why the hell would I want to go backwards? Do you realize the daily comforts you would miss out on? TV, immunizations, air conditioning, computers/phone/gaming devices...and on and on.

You're amazingly quick on the draw. Pretty much the point of his sarcastic joke...

If you travel backwards in time, you'll likely be the smartest person alive when you arrive.

If you travel forwards in time, it's important for the survival and well being of our species that when you arrive you are hands-down, definitely, the dumbest person alive.

I already am that.

So I know how to prep myself.

Now days you could probably go viral and make a living off that.

Who know how it would be in 2518

Well I'm black so the 500+ years in the past is out of the question. I don't have any interest in jumping half a millennium ahead either, so I'd just keep to the present.

I'd go to the future but I would go much farther ahead than 500 years... probably to the year 9,999.

I bet the new years party that year will be insane.

The year 9,999 to us won't be the year 9,999 to them. No way we'll still be following a timeline based on the birth of Jesus Christ by then. I would guess that will be restructured to a global standard within the next 100 years

Well then I will probably look like an idiot with my year 10,000 hat and glasses that I would show up with in preparation for the turn of the decamillennium
