I used to say there was no such thing as bad BBQ, some is just better than others. A place in Ashland KY, proved me wrong. It was NASTY. Congrats Kentucky!

I have heard a bunch of different stories about how barbecue came to be. I don’t believe any of them.

Texas also does pulled pork. But beef gets the most attention.

My Grandma Lulu makes the best. She tenderizes the meat between her legs and sloshes on gobs of sauce. Mmmm good.

Good BBQ everywhere...depends on your taste buds....I grew up in the st.louis area, so I'm partial to pork steaks and ribs..that would be st.louis, kc and Memphis for me. Live in Florida now and agree that this place has got to be the worst.

No good BBQ in Polk county? That is a crime.

1a. Kansas City
1b. Memphis
The rest.

Best BBQ I ever ate was at Fresh Air in Jackson, GA. I give GA the #1 rating overall and Texas is the worst.

That is hard to believe. Where have you eaten BBQ in Texas?

I know KC owes Memphis for their BBQ influence. It was Perry leaving Memphis in the 1900s and opening a restaurant in KC that lead to the BBQ boom in the city.
I’m thankful for that

I’m obligated by birth to vouch for KC BBQ, but got damn are Memphis dry rub ribs delicious

No offense to Texans, but I can't stand Texas BBQ.
The best BBQ I've ever had is in Eastern North Carolina...chopped BBQ w/vinegar based sauce; also, I like the South Carolina-style that has a mustard-based sauce.
But, keep that Texas mess away from me.

Whitt's in North Alabama is the reason I didn't eat BBQ for 20 years. It was my first and only introduction into it and I thought it was dry and bland.
My wife is only reason I ever gave it another try. Been damn near addicted to it since.

Jim & Nick's and Golden Rule suck. There's not a decent BBQ place in the city. I'd rather have the blasphemous crap they call BBQ in the Carolinas than anything from Birmingham.
