Per local Fox news affiliate:

A tree removal service was cutting down a tree this morning when they misjudged the angle and it accidentally fell on a house in Hoover.

I'm betting they're not even insured. From the looks of the truck, trailer and not even topping the tree before attempting to take down the trunk. Somebody's screwed.

Maybe it's the angle, but even if it missed the house it looks like it would have hit the power lines and pole.

What idiots.

I think they meant it to fall the opposite direction based on the visible cut

Tree shoulda been topped and come down in sections. I'd love to know the owners of the home and the property. Neither, based on first observations, seem to have any sense.

Ah, I see that now.

There aren't many legit tree companies left out there because worker's comp insurance is so high for them. I have a family friend in the business and it always takes him 3-4 weeks to come out when I call he's so backed up with work.

Makes sense. I'm a construction inspector, and have worked in nearly every aspect of construction at some point. If doing things at my home, most trades I couldn't care less if they are licensed and bonded. Tree removal service, it's worth the extra cash for someone legit.

I think my friend said his WC premiums were around 70 cents for every dollar he paid in salaries.

And how are they going to lift the pieces into the trailer?

This is not universally true.

My best tree guys are ALWAYS the cheapest. I swear they must be a money laundering operation.

I couldn't get them to my house after the April 11th tornados because they were too busy. Since the trees didn't damage my house, insurance wasn't paying. I cut what I could, but several of the tree were inexcess of 18" and I couldn't cut them.

First estimate: $6K. Second estimate: $4500. frick that. I could have bought the saw I needed for that size trunk and rented the bobcat for that! Waited on my guys for a couple of months: $1500.

If you cut it into smaller pieces it won't be that heavy

You have to be cutting 6" sections of that tree to get something manageable, thats a lot of sections that wont fit into that trailer either

Yeah no matter how you cut it, that tree ain't fitting in that trailer. Maybe there's a chipper truck not in the pic, but judging by the truck and trailer in the pic, I doubt it.

There's a chance the tree twisted as well. Like alahunter said, they should've topped and then pieced it down. That power line probably should been disconnected as well, hard to tell.

I did tree work for a couple years and it's amazing to watch someone who knows what they're doing. I've dudes make limbs do neat stuff to avoid houses, fences, etc.

Where I live, the town has to pick up all that crap. Tree cutters don't necessarily have to remove most of that tree once they cut it up.

Same here. If you can get it to the side of the road, the city gets it.

It's a shame it'll end up at a landfill. That's a winter's worth of firewood at least.
