U.S. is second all-time in winter Olympic medals (2nd in all-time golds as well). I would've never guessed that they'd be that high.

You doubted the greatest land on Earth?

Canadian. Close enough.
I've just never associated U.S. with Winter Olympic success. Norway is first with 303 medals, U.S. #2 with 254, and Germany is #3 with 209 (Although that doesn't count East Germany's 110 medals, good for #10 all-time even though they only competed in 6 Olympics).

Not that surprising. We usually do really well.
The US has some fantastic facilities for training for the winter Olympics.

We're the largest advanced country in the world. And we have the Rocky Mountains. Not sure why it's surprising.

Mainly because the winter Olympics don't get nearly the fanfare that the summer ones do. It's not like I was expecting the U.S. to be out of the top 10 or anything, but I just didn't think it would be #2.
I wouldn't have guessed Norway was #1 either. So the point of my comments is this: Don't trust my opinion of Winter Olympic history for shite because apparently it's way off-base.

Exactly what I was about to post. America's awesomeness should surprise none.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but don't we have some of the best facilities in the world in Salt Lake City or somewhere in Colorado? People from around the world come to train in the USA.

Same. I prefer Winter Olympics over the Summer games, by far.

I'm shocked that we're still not great at soccer.
Posted on 2/3/14 at 11:15 am to genro
Well, soccer is terrible so, no real loss.
Posted on 2/3/14 at 11:15 am to genro
We're still pretty good at soccer. We'll take the best team we've ever had to Brazil this summer.
