Temp dropped 15 degrees or so. Our area should be in the clear.

Stay safe everybody. I love and hate these threads. I've enjoyed the last three days on an information and funny level. Continue to pray for the ones affected and an the ones that lost their lives

Must be right on my doorstep. So sticky but quite the storm complex to the north. Getting some big lift with the front rolling in.

That's fairly obvious at this point. Looking to my northish right now here in Baton Rouge. Anvil cloud forming with absurd growth for this part of the world. I've never seen a cloud structure grow that quickly.

What does this mean? I'm in Baton Rouge, and the clouds do look crazy.

I'm a hurricane junkie, but I don't understand this tornado talk at all. The clouds look very low. I don't like this.

It gave me a science boner. It just means there was really cool air above some sticky moist hot air. Thus the cloud blew up really quickly. Nothing dangerous for us, it's the awesome power of thermodynamics.

I'm more of a Hurricane junkie myself too. We'll have one of these if we get one of those as well. Join in.

Will do! I had a blast during Gustav. I was at my parents house recording the shingles blowing off of their roof and 3 trees falling. My mom was sitting on the kitchen floor crying. She lived through Betsy and Andrew, so she freaked. I was alive during Andrew, but too young to really remember.

I just hope everyone in MS and AL stay safe tonight.

I was seven when Andrew hit and I can remember sitting at the kitchen table and watching the clouds pass over us. (Grew up in Monroe, La.) Big time Hurricane junkie, but now that I live in Bham, tornadoes are fascinating, science wise to me.

James Spann really is living the dream. he loves meteorology and gets paid to do it and be on TV for it.

I had to google. I was 13. I remember parts of it, but I didn't realize the destruction.

The one thing that I do remember is the pink sky in the middle of the day and the clouds moving so fast that I couldn't keep up with them.

Mother of God. It's pretty flat being so close to the gulf too.
