Meh. It was on the iPhone kindle app. Each page is 15-17 lines.
But I finished it last night. Awesome book. Some parts were honestly hard to read. It's hard for me to fathom that people can be so evil, but I guess I'm naive. Thanks for the recommendation.
Happy 4th, L.A. :USA:

I'm on page 234 on kindle. This is crazy. I need to sleep.
I should have waited until tomorrow.
My roommate is reading it now too.

I doubt that my definition of broke is the same as their definition of broke.

Sorry....
I just think that this isn't the thread for the Muslim/Jew hatred. There is enough of this.
Our country has it's own history of racial hatred.

Thanks for kind of taking up for me. If you knew me, you would come to my full defense. I promise.

Then why open the thread and reply?

This isn't the thread for this. If you want to know why I dislike radical Muslims...start a thread.
I'll even tell you why I despise radical feminists.
I hate radical, murdering Muslims with a passion. As I do the Mexican Drug Cartels, etc.
Start a thread...leggo.
Eta2: And how do you single me and Vols out?

I always find the "the country has never been more divided" quip you often see tossed about in current political discussions, a good tell as to being able to write that speaker off as someone who has no historical perspective whatsoever.
And I'm more than willing to call a spade, a spade (not racist at all  )
I will bash my own race as quickly as I'll bash other races, as you can see. I don't judge by skin color. I judge by ignorance. Blind racism is ignorant.
Now I will admit, I have grown a bit intolerant of radical Muslims over the years....but that doesn't belong in this thread.

Understood.
I just think that this isn't the thread for it. There are plenty of other threads to post that in. It just seems that he spews hatred in every thread.
I am reading this book, and honestly, I am embarrassed. I have stated my upbringing before. And I lived in MS for school in 2007. These trials weren't very long ago and it took 40 years to get it on trial. And, from what I saw, there is still a lot of hatred there. I was never taught that.
If more people had followed MLK's advice, the world would be a better place. Dr. King was an inspiration and we could use a lot more people like him these days.
Sorry, but the more I read this, the more I get pissed off. I can see now....this will start me on a binge reading kick of civil rights books. I would probably be a statistic if I lived during those times. If you can't tell, I'm willing to fight for what I believe in.

I'll look it up.
I was born in '79. I wasn't old enough to remember the hatred. Either that or I was never taught it. I'm very thankful for that.
My best friend in high school was a black guy. We were really best friends. My parents loved him. When I got in a wreck and almost died in 97 after we graduated, he and his wife would come stay at the hospital with me so my parents could go home and shower. We still keep in contact. I send his kids birthday gifts every year. He has an amazing wife and an amazing family. I just can't imagine living during these times.

That is not relevant to this thread.
And RA'd again. There should be a "for being racist and derailing a thread" option.
You're fricking with the wrong admin.

You're the one that needs to go away. You're racist. And it's disgusting.

This has not a damn thing to do with Muslims and Jews. Get that shite out of here. :spank:
It's about a time in our country that, as someone who wasn't taught or believes in racism (regardless of what I've been called regarding my stance on illegal immigration), is absolutely ashamed of.
Take your Muslim and Jew crap back to the other thread. And I hope L.A. Bans you for bringing this here.
What the hell does this have to do with Israel and Muslims?

I'm finished with the first chapter.
It's worth it. I would put it to the top of the list.
As someone who wasn't alive during this time, I can't imagine what it was like. I've only heard my parents stories.
Neither side of my family were slave owners and I was never taught or exposed to this type of racism. I can see why my mom said that she used to cry and beg not to go to school. And my parents lived in Louisiana. I can't imagine being in MS or AL during this time.
The fact that the Klan still exists is disgusting. But the fact that the police and other government officials were in on it during this time are really disgusting. And it took until 1998 for MS to bring this to trial.
Thanks L.A..... I won't sleeping tonight. I'll be reading this all night.

I'm to the point where "the klansmen received sentences of up to 10 years" and I'm already pissed off.
10 years? That's it?

I'm reading it now. Like I said, my dad said that it was bad. My mom was scared to go to school in the 70's.
Better than being called a bitch and an arse hole in the other thread.
Thanks for the link. I enjoy reading stories like this.

I was dogged last night for not producing hard data. I produced hard data, then it became "those dirty filthy Mexicans".
I've been called a bitch and an a-hole on this page for questioning if someone actually read the links I posted?
But frick women, right? We shouldn't be allowed to vote and we are all bitches.
Like I said....y'all win. I'm backing out. Have a great night.

My dad was in high school when desegregation (or integration) started. He doesn't talk about it much, but he says that it was bad. I can't imagine living during those times. Truly a pathetic time in our country's history.
