I tend to agree that it all feels over-hyped, but I also understand why. For the average poster on this board and other like-minded people, we all generally follow local events, news, weather forecasts etc. However, there’s another segment of the population that doesn’t do this. The forecasters, news outlets, etc are doing what they can to reach this other segment - and it becomes “over exaggerated” for us that are aware of our surroundings.
Now we have to be able to understand the risks and plan accordingly all while hopefully saving life/property of others.

I would like to see a smaller diversion combined with dredging along with creating ridges to retain what is made
Exactly what this is. This outfall area will be prime for numerous dredging and outfall management projects. Federal grants, non-profits, and industry looking for mitigation credits will jump at the opportunity to construct some terraces and build marsh to maximize the use of the new sediment that is available.

That’s precisely what this project is - while also maintaining the existing marine, rail, and highway transportation. And also providing the flood protection that currently exists

Totally different situation. This wasn’t just 1 play to win it. There was still time on the clock. Bama was the last play of the game regardless of outcome.
Kick the XP and make OM play for OT was correct call

Let’s add that hurricanes transfer heat from the ocean to the atmosphere. They’re just doing their job of keeping the earth’s temperature in balance. It sucks - but I’d rather that we not go out and mess with changing the weather (more than supposedly already occurring)

Where do you think the storm is right now?

Y’all are losing your minds…. When was the storm south of New Orleans as shown in this graphic?
Yes New Orleans got the eastern eye wall of a storm that collapsed and had an eye that was 60+ miles wide. He wasn’t “right”.

I reiterate. If the forecast is changing this much less than 24 hours before landfall its useless. People who went to bed planning to stay home will wake up having to consider leaving.
You’ll be much better off if you stop referring to single model runs as forecasts

price has skyrocketed past the point of making sense.
All government/public works projects are struggling with this. Funding/permits arrives years in advance of contract award. In many cases the BCA is out of whack as soon as the contract is advertised- so what should happen? Release all the funds back to the source and start over?

3 projects that dredged sediment from the MS River and placed it in the same basin that would be benefitted by the diversion project “couldn’t be more different than the point in case”?
You obviously have some knowledge on the situation but nearly everything you’ve posted in this thread has an angle.
If ManInStadium is “religious” to the diversion - then you are also “religious” to dredging, or at least some part of the dredging process.

If parking and traffic scares you, there’s a shuttle service from Lauberge and downtown that drops you off 5 mins from stadium. Or is that too inconvenient?
