I have the answer - we'll set up New Mexico has a sanctuary state and you have to live and work there for 3 years under probation. If you manage that you can proceed down the path to legal immigration and can live and work elsewhere in the US. Fail that, and you are permanently banned.

Superfluous, but I'll take it.

Also: Trying to get footage/interviews with stranded immigrants has been a lot harder than I thought it would be. My girlfriend said it'd be dangerous if we tried, so I'll just try to record them whenever I can.
