State of this forum: Let's make the OTB Great Again

Where are we now?

Let's look at this forum as it stands today. The membership is mixed; a lot of established posters with some newer folks sprinkled in. There are maybe a few new threads a day with just enough activity to make it worth checking, but for the most part this place is slow.

Where were we in the past?

2014-2015 was prime OTB. We had IM threads every night, crazy personal stories from people of questionable sanity, news rundowns, debates over any number of social topics; Race, Religion, Gender, Sex etc...and legendary Trolls.

This place was buzzing with activity and when comparing it to the board today this place looks dead.

We should change that.

Why?

The OTB was and can be the Rant's Social Club. All of the fun banter with less of the full retardation and animosity, and not bound by a single set of topics. It can be fun, funny, and rewarding to be a part of in a way that the Rant isn't...as "great" as that forum is.

If we can get the OTB back rolling again you, lurker or compulsive 100-comment a day poster, will enjoy it.

What happened?

A simple answer is that many of the more active posters slowly left, I'm in no way knocking the current posters or their topics, they're good, but we need more of everything.

How?

- Post IM Threads: BuccWildBammer started many of these and they were fun for casual conversation. Someone can take the lead and start making these again or we can rotate daily.

- Post something you care about: Don't be afraid if it's dumb as shite. Have a controversial opinion, insane rant, or interesting story? Post it.

- Theme Weeks: We would have theme weeks (informal, it just flowed like that) of threads on a particular topic. Race, Religion, Abortion, LGBT stuff...this was a time when everything was less polarized politically but it was all good natured and entertaining. Maybe we could start that again.

- Trolls and Crazy People: They made the OTB what it was in many ways. If you see a complete uninhibited idiot wandering around the Rant direct them here. We need a stable of clowns.

- Return: If you're a previous frequent poster but are still active somewhere on the site just come on back.

- Join us: If you're new and afraid of cliques or something don't be afraid to post. We need to develop this board, traditionally it's been less toxic than the main rant, and you can be a part of it.
