Maybe, but people don't appreciate the beauty of Texas, nor the diversity of the natural resources in Texas, partly because our mountains are so dry that nobody lives there. (Did you know the highest mountain peaks East of the Rockies can be found in Texas?) Texas is actually amazingly diverse both culturally and geographically, but because there is such a single minded unified love of Texas, and because the Texas stereotype is so pronounced, that most people don't know about that diversity.

California has everything Colorado has and the Pacific on top of that. Cali has it all, snowy mountains/ ski resorts, Pacific Coast Hwy, beaches, low desert, high desert, Redwood forests, Sequoias, San Francisco, L.A, San Diego and tons more. I like Wyoming as much as Colorado.

Most people think Texas is a big desert because of Hollywood ignorance and misrepresentation, but only about 10% of Texas is desert. Most don't know that Texas has more forest land than the size of the entire state of Arkansas, or Mississippi, or Tennessee, or Alabama, or......

I've been to DFW and Houston areas many times, and drove through Midland and El Paso once. Texas is diverse due to it's size.

Not sure of your point.

Still not sure of your point.

It almost sounded like you were saying, "I've been to Houston, Dallas, Midland, and El Paso, so you should trust me when I tell you that Texas' diversity doesn't count, since it's big."

Texas is large, encompassing like over 250,000 square miles. Of course it's diverse. It's like 4 or 5 states in one.

All true. I still don't get your point.

It's ok, I have family Tex. I'm pretty accustomed to the cultural and geographical diversity. So I'm agreeing with you.

There's a lot to like about Texas. (And I was born and raised there so STFU.) This is not one of those things. Texans think no income tax is some sort of sign of moral superiority, when it's just an accident of birth (and oil and natural gas).

Crap. I only have 4 guns, so the missus and I are at 2:1. I'm doomed. Tyrants will be kicking in the door any moment now, and I can't stop them. I hope I can get to the gun shop to bring myself up to Texas standards before the tyrants carry me off to the concentration camp.

Small business: You have a legitimate point. shite.

For those that have been, Alaska is the prettiest state. There's not a close second.

Alaska is breathtakingly beautiful, but in my experience beautiful in one way: really big rocks rising up out of the ocean along with glaciers spilling down from those big honkin' rocks. I'd put it at #3 behind #1 California and #2 Hawaii, which both have a wider variety of "pretty".

I don't want to live in any of those 3 states, though!

Well, we didn't have State Income Tax BEFORE the oil boom, so.....

I like the steaks in Texas . . . and the women are slutty. You can't hate a state with slutty women. Ya just can't.

Only SEC state I really have nothing good to say about it Arkansas. Driven through there a lot - it's like stepping back in time.
