And it won't get any further than a non-Catholic couple contesting a Catholic Church denying them a wedding in their cathedral because they don't adhere to Catholic doctrine.

The difference is there is no social justice movement for "non-catholic couples".

None, whatsoever. I don't give a shite. I will give a shite if/when a religious institution is forced to perform the ceremony against their will. And I say that as an agnostic.

All of this.

Deal with being forced to do something your religion doesn't believe in

Who is being forced to do anything? The court just said that it's a violation of the constitution for states not to give gay couples the same equal protection as hetero couples. No church or private entity is being forced to do anything.

There's a difference in the government allowing gay marriage to be recognized by the government and actually forcing churches/temples to perform marriages against their religious doctrines. Even among the gay marriage crowd, there's a significant portion who are ok with it as long as churches hands aren't forced in performing services. You lose a good portion of that support if that happens.

I'm not worried about it.

Of course there is, no debate here.

I'm not worried about it, right now. But the trend in public perception is that the church is the bully and the gays are the victim, think of how powerful that perception becomes as this trend continues for the next 10-20 years.

Right now, not an issue.

This is a football board. FOOTBALL! not a place to express your political fears of concerns.

that being said, marriage is not guaranteed but freedom from discrimination in any contract is. Marriage can be a religious ceremony, but in in the eyes of a government, it's a contract. There are legal and financial benefits to officially marrying someone. Gays want them. Why is that wrong?

No one wants to be married in your religion if you don't want it, they just want the same legal rights as you. Gays only agenda is to be accepted and treated properly, not to destroy your incorrect ideas about morality and tradition.

Back to football now please.

Go frick yourself. Alot of people are joining in on this conversation and I will too if I see fit.

I actually agree with this. A large portion of gay people just want to be left alone and live their lifes. It's the radical element that is pushing the needle.
