Not a cop and I'm not your parents. I won't get too detailed but I'm asking because of a recent event in my life. An underage person I know is/possibly could be in trouble for Minor in Possession and another person I know for supplying it.
I'm grappling with the issue right now because someone who isn't me definitely did #1 and someone who isn't me may have, in years long past, done #2.

Yes to the first part of the first question, no to the second question as an adult, yes to it while I was in college for my underage friends.

Ok so someone who isn't me definitely isn't alone in the "Yes" to both questions.

Did something really bad happen? Maybe it's different in LA but those types of charges are usually pretty easy to just pay for and move on. You sound pretty somber.

yes, I was underage and gave alcohol to underage people.

I started drinking booze in 8th grade, which scares the hell out of me since my oldest is only a few years out from that.
My wife and I started dating when she was 20 and I was 25... so year. I provided booze for her. She actually got carded on one of our first dates and lost her fake ID.
Other than her, I don't remember providing alcohol to underage people. I'm sure there were some times shortly after I turned 21 and had younger friends that I bought them booze. I don't really remember it, though.

Underage charges are a joke. Distributing to minors is more serious. Never got one but several friends did and it involved a lot of money and community service from what I heard. I was lucky I never got one because I got pretty bold with my fake at bars by the time I was 20

And no I don't feel bad about it. I first drank when I was like 14 or 15. I now have a good job and drink like 3-4 nights a week, in excess every so often. Contrary to what the teachers told me it did not make me an alcoholic degenerate.
When I bought for underage kids it was typically for kids my age or a year or two younger. It's not like I was buying on hey misters at the corner for a 14 year old
