Polls have thrown in the towel and declared they have no idea.

Too many variables and not enough quality polling data from past elections in Alabama. Since elections in Alabama have not been competitive for decades, polls don't waste time and resources there and they really have no idea what to expect. Exit polls were not even conducted in Alabama in the last election by the major polling organizations

Cool. So tell me what your lying, pussy, Republican representatives are planning on doing about it.

Thanks.

This thread warms the cockles of my heart. You'd think by the Poliboard that Jones was the devil incarnate and will destroy America single handed, but over here. You see that the state is very much split down the middle, and the accusers stories are the least of the reasons people aren't going to vote for Moore.

My vote will be for 2nd Ammendment rights, 1st Ammendment rights, supporting law enforcement, a strong military, free market, pro-life, proper vetting of immigrants, etc.

I'm voting against Doug Jones.

Oh, and keeping the SEC offices in Birmingham.

There's practically nothing that they can do, so why is this an issue every year?

Yeah, I really do not understand at all why a politicians stance on abortion is relevant in any way.

I hope Jones wins but it will probably be Moore, and it will be a stain for both Alabama and the GOP that won’t come out for a while.

A more accurate description of his stance would be that he doesn’t believe it’s the government’s job to tell women whether they’re allowed to have a late term abortion or not. Single issue voting by Alabamians is why the state is among the most backwards in the county and towards the very bottom in almost every relevant measurement. Politician has an “R” by his name and says he hates abortion. WELL BUH GAWD HE’S GOT MY VOTE!!1!!

It’s also funny because oat people who are pro life will probably never be in a situation where they’ll need to have an abortion.

Who care if 9 million kids don’t have health care insurance. At least we protected the rights of an unborn zygote. PRO- LIFE ALL THE WAY!!!!

You mean like what the Republicans just did with this Tax Cut?

I’d like you to explain the effects of it on the middle class without talking about how it effects the rich. I’ll also give you bonus points if you can explain it in your own words instead of linking an article that you don’t understand

Go.

Well, check out my posts in this thread. I'm confident the middle class will pay more with this corporate tax cut than without it over the next decade for sure.

Maybe I missed a post but all I saw was speculation on how it would drive up the debt which would lead us to increase rates in the future. Meaning we would save money now but we'll have to make up for it later

Doesn't really back up what he said even if what you say will happen is true

Well if you insist.

First of all this screws of the middle class in blue states since this plan would limit popular tax deductions that effects people with higher property taxes. And where do you usually pay more in in property taxes? In states like NY and California. Even the house Republicans who live in these states weren’t for it.

And yes it’s true that most MC Americans would see a tax cut- temporarily. In 2019 most households making between $50,000-75,000 WOULD save an additional $780 a year.

But by 2023 households making less than $30,000 would see their taxes increase. And by 2027 all households making less than $75,000 would see an increase in taxes.

There’s a reason why this bill only has an national approval rating of 35%- it’s a terrible bill that will screw over the middle class in the long run.

The GOP knows this- why else do you think they rushed to passed this at 2am with scribbles in the margins like its some shitty college essay?

Here, I wrote it all in my own words. Was that simple enough for you to understand, or should I dumb it down some more?

Ok, I will boil it down entirely.

This tax bill will have practically zero effect on overall middle class taxes paid in the near term and will cause tax increases for the middle class in the midterm.

Middle class will pay more in total taxes over the next 5-10 years with this tax bill.

Yes, exactly like that. If they get the corporate tax rate down it will save me from paying a no small amount of money.

So you list one deduction that only applies to a few states and to only people who itemize a certain amount and one that subsidizes high tax states.

But by 2023 households making less than $30,000 would see their taxes increase. And by 2027 all households making less than $75,000 would see an increase in taxes.

What's the cause? I would think the only cause is because a lot of the things they did, they had to make expire because of the debt cap.

How many Americans do you think know what's in this bill? Most people I talk to barely understand taxes and they are much higher educated than the majority of the population. So I couldn't care less about the approval rating.

It was simple enough that I still don't think you know what's in the bill

I didn't want it boiled down. I want detail. No one can provide me detail.

The only people who could even possibly be screwed by this bill are people who itemize. Most middle class people don't itemize.

We're doubling the standard deduction and lowering the rates on the rest of your income. How will you pay more? The only way is if you're paying a shite load of state taxes, a shite load of medical expenses, or if you have a shite load of 2% MISC deductions.
