I'm not a big fan of open carry, but this world is full of different people who think differently. I can definitely understand why some people in some places do.

In the end, and a lot of people who are second amendment supporters to an extreme point: Open carry only serves to obtain attention, that's all people want.

If you walk into a Walmart with an AR or AK series and act stupefied that people would look at you, you're entering dangerous levels of societal ignorance.

There is literally no reason to open carry unless you're in a rural area where you're not only defending yourself against people but wildlife as well.

Agreed. Some people around me open carry, not a huge number but enough to notice. Generally large caliber revolvers if they’re working outside because of Bears, Wolves, and Cougars. Occasionally you’ll see someone stroll in the grocery store or gas station with one, NBD. That’s different in my mind. It’s just about convenience at that point.

I saw a black guy who looked to be about 19-20 walking in a wal mart about 6 months ago with a Colt 44 Magnum on his hip. He had on baggy shorts and a flat bill. It was really odd looking. He looked like a gangsta on one hand and Wyatt Earp on the other. It was a strange combo.

My 8 year old is a pussy? No, she thinks you’re a jackass and a pussy for feeling the need to walk around with an exposed gun.

You should read the thread.

"Because i can" is the same lazy minded, intellectually vacant reason people use to burn the flag, march in white hooded dunce caps and piss on a crucifix in an art exhibit.

If "because you can" is the only reason you have to exercise a right, then ok i guess. You're no different though than the liberals the likes of you rail against. Doing stupid, pointless shite "because you can".

I don't really know what he was describing, but I have a buddy who drives all over to fill ATMs, routinely has 10's of thousands of Dollars in a lockbox in his work vehicle at any given time. Some of the ATMs he services are not in the most classy areas...

of course, he carries (concealed). Idk who exactly the other guy was describing, but my buddy is one such person who fits.

My own 2 cents: carry, but do so concealed. open carrying just makes you a target to catch the 1st bullet, in my opinion. That being said, I support open carry laws 100% for many reasons. such as:
1. I can make that decision myself without government intervention
2. if you carry concealed, and unintentionally uncover, you can't be charged with a crime due to open carry laws.

Well that would be as weird and stupid as the guy who's actually carrying the gun,

We have lots of constitutional rights and everyone believes they're a "constitutionalist", even liberals.

But so what. Just because someone has the "constitutional right" to say and do things for no good reason doesn't mean they should always exercise that right.

I have the constitutional right to open carry a gun when there is practically no reasonable threat to my person and no good reason at all for doing it.

I have the same right to whipe myself with the pages of the bible and hang it in a museum. I also have the right to burn the flag. In fact, i have a countless list of stupid fricking rights i can act on anytime i want. All of which should be preserved.

But just because i have the right to do something, doesn't mean i should completely forgo good judgement and social decorum to exercise that right.

People who open carry guns forgo both.
