Why do you do it?

Are you afraid of something? Are you trying to intimidate other people? Are you trying to instill fear in others? Are you trying to make some larger social/cultural point by openly carrying a firearm in the suburbs and one you really don't need?

We live in a largely civilized and safe society. What do you gain from openly carrying a firearm?

I conceal carry but I've never been fearful or felt intimidated when I see someone else open carry.

You see Pandy, it's not the "largely" part that people are concerned with. A question for you: if you are in a potentially hazardous line of work, known to carry large sums on money, often find yourself in undesirable locations (especially at night), or any other number of reasons wouldn't it be short sighted and naive not to carry, and have it known that you can/will defend yourself?

PS- It only takes once not having protection when it's needed.

So conceal carry.

You are afraid of something then. You're afraid of needing it and not having it.

The only time i see civilians open carry is in the suburbs and rural areas. Why do you think they're doing it? What could they possibly fear will happen?

Anyway, you kinda described a gangster or maybe a strip club owner or some shite like that.

People who conceal carry have a sense of propriety and decorum.

I only conceal carry so as not to present myself as a target for some deranged transvestite Trump hater.

I helped run a pawn shop and worked in the bail bond business while going to school at Alabama. Trust me, there are many people who move in and out of potential danger each day, especially with today's drug crisis in the country. I carried 45-50 years ago.
I certainly don't have a problem with conceal carry laws ANYWHERE, but would be open-minded to a stronger open-carry law.

So you're making social or political statement openly carrying a loaded gun?

That's true, there are.

But what about people who open carry during daylight hours in the suburbs? I see that more and more nowadays.

Are they afraid of a loaded gun or the weirdo needlessly showing it off in public to strangers, for no good reason at all?

Better question. Can you separate one from the other?

I live in Louisiana, on the northshore of lake Pontchartrain. I see it relatively often.

Concealed carrying takes an extra license that I don't want to pay for.
