My wife passed away this summer. We were together for 45 years. My advice to you guys who are married and it is a marriage that will last: Die first The one who goes first has it easy. The one left behind, man, all I can tell you is I deal with death on a regular basis and there is NOTHING that can prepare you for the lost of a spouse.

Sorry for what you are dealing with. I've been married 19 years.
My mom and dad were married for 47 years when my mother died. My dad was lost without her and died a little over a year later.
Stay strong, get involved with some other men of your age doing stuff and staying active both body and mind.

Sorry for your loss. If it's as bad as you say it is, then the best thing I can do for my wife is outlive her so she doesn't have to deal with it.

Do you have any children together? do you have grand kids to cheer you up? I often wonder about the couples that decide not to have kids later in life. What happens when their S/O dies? I mean this person was probably your best friend and most of the friends you had may already be dead or maybe you lost touch. Sorry OP good luck!

Very true lost my mom in May my dad (44yrs married) is lost. She did everything for him. Bills, shopping, house work, clothes, cooking. The day of the funeral he honestly didn't know where she kept his socks. I can see how you can become completely dependant on someone without realizing it until they are gone. Take nothing for granted

I'm so glad you had a long marriage. Take comfort in your memories. She's still alive in you. That's what happens when two people love each other as y'all do.

I've only been married for two years.
I'm just glad you got that many years of happiness.

God Bless you and comfort you. We've been married and deeply in love for 38 years and there's no doubt it will be very hard on whichever of us is left behind.

So very sorry for you loss. My dad lost his bride after 50 years together two years ago on Sept 14. It's still a daily struggle for him, and his major stroke from years past makes it harder.
Hope you find peace.

So sorry for your loss. I've been married nearly a year and together for 7. Can't imagine the memories shared after 45 years. I pray you find peace.

I met mine 10 years ago this month. Can't imagine life without her, and I don't want to.
