Unfortunately I think BDS is underwhelming. It was never the loudest but for some reason it was a Lot louder pre dynasty IMO.
2 factors IMO:
1. The design isnt the best for holding in noise. The bottom part of stands go out away from the field instead of up.
2. Too many old fans that sit on their hands. I swear I had an old man ask me at a game one time if I could sit down so he could see.

I never thought it was loud pre-dynasty (especially in the 90s). The loudest years I remember BDS were 2005 and then the first years of the Saban era (2007-2009). It was LOUD for almost all of 2008 and 2009.
It's still pretty loud in big spots and big games, but it's just hard to get all loud and jacked up when you are up 24-0 in the 2nd quarter. I think that would and does apply just about anywhere.

2005 was pretty loud. I was at the UF game and it was maybe the loudest I’ve ever been to.

2005 Florida was the most unhinged, all around, that I've ever seen that place.
2005 Tennessee and 2008 Auburn are the most visceral, caged animal loud that I've ever seen the place.
Other games that I remember looking around and thinking "Wow, it's REALLY frickin loud right now" are
1999 Mississippi State
2002 Georgia
2003 Oklahoma
2005 Florida
2005 Tennessee
2005 LSU
2007 LSU (post-Javy punt return may be the co-loudest I've ever heard along with the Prothro 80 yard catch vs UF)
2008 Auburn
2009 Tennessee during and after the blocked kick (and that's it)
2009 LSU
2010 Auburn
2011 LSU
2014 Mississippi St (birth of C Murder)
2014 Auburn
2015 LSU

The most overrated stadium that I have been to is UGA. It is a near 100k seat stadium with the restrooms and a concourse design for 20k. The atmosphere left a lot to be desired and the stadium was way too cramped.

(3) NRG Stadium, Houston: You can tell this stadium was built right before the next generation of stadiums (Dallas, SF/SJ, ATL, new LA) were built. It's large, but rather isolated and unspectacular. There's nothing wrong with the venue, I just expected a bit... more?
Good one
NRG isn't very good despite being from an era when stadiums were turning the corner. I think the worse knock on both Dallas and Atlanta is that they can be boring after the initial "holy shite this is huge" wears off, although in our defense our stadium isn't in fricking Arlington, so that helps. Both are visually impressive and if you can't enjoy your time at either something is wrong with you.

Hands down the most over rated stadium is the Rose Bowl. I think because it was built over 100 years ago but man that's the most fan unfriendly stadium I've ever been in. For one there's not enough portals. The rows are like 100 seats long so if you're in the middle you have to get 50 people to stand up to get out (imagine being on the end and standing up to let people out the whole game), and if you have to go to the bathroom or want a hot dog or drink you actually have to leave the stadium through a really long tunnel to get to it. There are no bathrooms or concession stands in the stadium.

Yea, I mean I get that the hype behind Dallas and Atlanta is huge so there is going to be a lot of "eh, it's not THAT good". However, if you just show up to watch a game with no preconceived notions or hype, I don't see how you go to either stadium and don't leave thinking how nice and good it is.
The location of Arlington sucks, but a game inside that stadium is pretty great. And I've had nothing but good experiences at Mercedes Benz (other than getting in to the stadium at the National Title game a few years ago).

Sanford and Kenan have a lot in common because they were designed by the same architect back in the 1920s. Sanford was the second one built and designed to be much bigger (which it is, considerably so) but that’s why the open end. It’s a feature not a bug

Agree with all of that. It's also difficult to overstate how unreal it is that it's a top tier NFL stadium and a top 10 attendance stadium for professional soccer IN THE WORLD.

I absolutely cannot stand watching college games inside of jerry world. Can't wait for our series with Arkansas to finish up.

If you have been to a game in both stadiums, then your comment is like comparing a souped up golf cart with a monster truck. Both have four wheels and knobby tires.

Jerdan-Hare, but what can you expect when it's always in the shadow.

The Cotton Bowl stadium is really bad too with some seats. I remember having a seat under an overhang and the stadium itself (the overhang of the upper deck) blocked the view of one of the endzones.
Plus, this is an actual ticketed seat. Keep in mind that the pic is taken from a couple of rows back:

At least they've added Texas Live within walking distance which is a pretty cool spot.

I think it’s embarrassing for an sec Stadium to have trees visible from field level.
This is a really odd hill to make a stand on.

I bet it takes an hour to get served in that place.

The 2015 Cotton Bowl Playoff game vs MSU was a blast

I’ve been to rockin games there (first couple vs Arkansas, Cotton Bowl), but if it’s not a huge game then it’s sterile.
