has to be a basketball player of about any position. No other sport can be dominated by a player in or just out of HS. Skill is not as important as outright athleticism, esp. in the era of no travelling, palming, carrying, walking, so on and so forth. Used to be a great sport.

Basketball players are the most overrated athletes. When you watch them attempt to play almost any other sport (especially throwing a ball) it is comical. Truth be told, half of the NBA isn't even very good at the rudiments of basketball. Watching big men try to dribble and handle the ball is usually painful. How many in the Association are a liability at the charity stripe?
The answer is MLB shortstops/middle infielders and hockey players.

If they had parents that took them to hitting lessons and put batting cages in the back yard, many of them could. Hitting a 90 mph baseball or a 60 mph softball is a tremendous skill, but not what I think of as athleticism. Matter of fact, I’ve known quite a few not very athletic guys and girls that could do it well. Speed, jumping, and agility are the attributes I think of as “athletic” qualities, and you can make it a lot farther in baseball and softball without great levels of those attributes than in other sports. With that said, I’m gonna go with CB in football and PG in hoops.

Center Forward in hockey does the same thing but on skates, and they can hit him.

Center Forward in hockey isn’t running 6-7 miles on average (sometimes as high as 10) every game while doing it.

It can be argues today in the top top teams the modern wing back might be more athletic. They run nearly the same distance on average and due to the nature of the game have to be quick and agile enough to attack while also being big and strong enough to defend.

I'm not going to rank them them, but these positions or sports take a high degree of athleticism:
point gaurd
short stop
cornerback
decathalete
pole vaulter
just about all football skill positions
gymansts
high scoring soccer players
high level taekwando

I was going with a wrestler until I saw your choice. Gotta agree with you. Biathlon and second cross country skiing look the most brutal to me. Those people are totally spent once they cross the finish line.
