And with regards to ISIS, I have already said broad threats are different than direct threats. ISIS saying they will kill US soldiers does not mean all US soldiers need to hide. But if ISIS said they would kill all soldiers at Fort Poke on Saturday, we may want to be on alert.
And we would be on Alert. The Force Protection on the base would change and every one would go about doing their jobs.

We know NOW that he did not have the means to carry out tge attack. Did we know when he made the tgreat that he was not going to be able to carry it out? If he did have the means, does that change how we view the reaction?
Should we write off every threat simply because it is unlikely that someone actually carries them out?
Again, I'm not saying every time someone makes a threat we all go run in hide in a cave. But we do need to take every threat serious. As JP stated, his base would go on alert and protection would change. I am assuming that is the appropriate action.
I don't care if it is a monthly occurance, but if people were making death threats at my daughter's school, I would hope people take required action and not just brush it off.
Having learned the professor allowed students to make up the exam, but also challenged them to stand up to thw threat, I don't feel he did anything wrong. Now in his letter he never stated he was giving a make up, only that he was not canceling class and would be giving the exam. It is understandable that people would be upset by that given the circumstances.
The biggest problem in this for me is that people got upset, then wanted blood for it rather than having a conversation to resolve issues. I don't care which side of an argument you are on, too often when people get mad they shut off all discussion and just want a pound of flesh for making them upset in the first place.

They knew very early on that it wasn't a credible threat. Unless you have information that they were lying. Just admit that you were talking out your arse when you were concerned for the safety of the students.

3 teens arrested after Michigan police foil school shooting plot
3 men arrested in white supremacist plot in Virginia targeting blacks, Jews
-The first was a week ago, the 2nd was a day ago. I don't care if the threat is .0001% credible you don't compromise your life for a damn test.

Tons of blogs and post stating his views and intentions, wasn't deemed credible. FYI

They guy has principles. I would think he could land somewhere else and find himself in a better place.
He'll probably have a hard time with the leftist socialist progressives at Mizzou if he returns.

FYI, the MU police were right. You can keep trying to make this something it's not. What it wasn't was a credible threat. It's still not from the 20/20 hindsight perspective. You're being obtuse just because you think someone lacks perspective. But you're wrong. So there's no additional perspective needed.

I don't think that any one is saying not to take the threat seriously. Beef up security and carry on with your business. If every one was so concerned then why were they hanging out outside where they would be easy pickings?
I'm glad they caught the kid that made the threats. He deserves what ever punishment he gets.
Hey, if I was a 18-19 y/o kid.......hell, I'm 32 and I'd still take the opportunity to get out of class even if it was for some BS.

I have always been concerned for students safety. Is there something wrong with that?
As far as I can tell, threats were made Tuesday. Missouri had increased security on Tuesday and by Wednesday they felt the threat was no longer viable. The exam was Wednesday and some students were still concerned. The professor did not cancel class but was willing to allow students to make up the exam.
All I have been saying this whole time is that threats need to be taken serious. How serious depends upon the situation. At some point Missouri took the threats serious enough to act on it.
When the original thread was posted people stated that this was probably started by the protestors to get more attention. It wasn't. But the threat was ignored by people. Thankfully those in charge did not.

Probably so but my daughter was just escorted by a cop to her dorm and she was at least told they were locked down and weren't to leave, though I can't find any official "lockdown" on the alert system. I suppose even if trolls at least the cops are taking it serious beforehand and not afterwards but it has her freaked the frick out.

Right. What does that contradict about what I posted?

I think the lesson here is 18-22 year olds are crazy and naive to the world they live in. That and they're easily manipulated.
It's the professors fanning the flames that piss me off. They took an opportunity to use dumb kids as an army to fight their ridiculous battles. You get entitled white liberals in the mix and things turn into a circus.
It's foolishness like MU that makes me not want to call myself liberal.

Excellent post.
Those people were justice warriors. I wonder how they feel about today's SJWs?

I've been saying that people need to take threats serious, that it depends on the threat what action needs to be taken. Missouri took the threat serious by providing police protection for it's students. Professors allowed students who did not feel safe to make up classes.
Seems appropriate to me.

The cameraman that was covering the carrot top protest just filed charges against her and the other idiot. Stay tuned.

Time to take the W out of SJW, they don't deserve the word, 'Warrior'.
