What is a Medal of Honor challenge coin? Please educate the rest of us. Definitly a cool story.
Like everything else with history, these coins have been abused over time. They used to be handed out to thank fellow servicemen for their service by a commander of a unique organization. They have now become "look at me" coins by every level above Battalion in the Army. Even MOH recipients were not sanctioned to give out coins.

Wow just looked him up. What a hero and something you’ll always cherish. Thank you both for your service.

There comes a point where folks get tired of being treated like they did something special, especially when they know that plenty of their brothers and sisters in arms either would've done the same or did do the same but for whatever reason weren't recognized the same.
It is probably because the people awarded a Medal of Honor most likely saw a lot of their brothers die while doing the things that earned them that MOH. That has to be something that weighs heavy on them, to wonder "why did I go through the same battle, watch my friends die, and do my duty (exactly what my friends would have done), yet they are gone and I am here in a ceremony with the POTUS hanging a medal around my neck.
That HAS TO BE a heavy load to bear for the rest of your life. How many soldiers who have a Medal of Honor have you ever seen try to publicize it? I can't think of any.

One thing he said while his mechanical hand clenched… “if I could go to Ukraine I would.” It’s hard to explain but I understood him completely.

It's not hard to understand. Going to Ukraine would be fighting a just fight. So many of our conflicts since WWII have been so steeped in politics and bad actions by all parties involved in the conflicts that it's hard to tell up from down.
The Ukrainian conflict is far more simple. Right and wrong is easy to see. Fighting for Ukraine would feel right. Not a messy right but a clear right.

.thank you for your service as well.

The Ukraine/Russia conflict isn't steeped in politics??
Good vs Evil? Funny that the side with the Neo-Nazi battalion paid for by the Ukrainian Govt is the "Good" side.
