If I remember right, this kid was bullied and apparently snapped. I don't think his parents are very involved with him, I believe he was living with his grandparents, unless I'm mixing up the crazies that have shot up schools lately. He was another one of those kids nobody notices, except to bully them, until they lose it - then everyone wonders why.
That said, there's no excuse for his behavior. That's sociopathic, and there is no cure for the sociopath. He's also maybe 18? Might as well put a bullet in his head now - he won't last 2 years in prison.

Don't blame this shite on bullying. This kid doesn't deserve to be understood. He deserves to be put in a maximum security prison and put in solitary the rest of his life.

The Heretics Fork:
The heretics fork was used in the Middles Ages mainly during the Spanish Inquisition.
The instrument consists of two forks set against each other that penetrated the flesh under the chin in one end and the upper chest in the other. As usual, this instrument didn't harm any vital points; thus avoiding death and prolonging pain.
The victim's hands were tied behind his back to prevent any chance of escape. The Heretics Fork made speech and neck movement almost impossible and was used after a confession to avoid hearing the victim any further. As can be seen in the picture, a small collar supported the fork forcing the victim to hold his head erect.
Sometimes the victim was incarcerated and subject to this instrument as well. This instrument often harmed the neck of the victim, as well as potentially spreading an infection or disease.

Devised by Germans, the Judas Cradle was a brutal torture method where the victim was made to sit naked over the pyramid-shaped cradle with the intention that the point of cradle penetrates into the anus or vagina. Later, the person very slowly lowered using ropes. When put some more weights on ankles, the downward pressure caused the orifice to stretch to unbearable extent. Since all victims were made to sit on the unsanitized cradle, they used to catch infection.
