Definitely. Making it illegal would make it inherently harder to get, which means there will be fewer people drinking.

If cars were illegal there would be even less wrecks than that.

Maybe. But violent crime including homicide would go up

Not saying it's a good idea lmao. I'm drinking an IPA as I type. Just answering the question.

Aren’t the numbers for people using cell phones higher now than alcohol?
(In terms of wrecks)

I think so (I could pull some numbers at work), but I think DUI is responsible for more injury crashes (especially severe injuries, K/A)

If booze were illegal I'd have an additional tax free source of income.

I'm pretty sure this is correct

I am not disputing that cell phones are a dangerous distraction while driving; but curious how the number of motor vehicle accidents involving cell phones is determined. With DUI you can take a breathalyzer or blood test. In a really bad crash they may look for evidence that a phone was in use; but I doubt this happens most of the time. Are the numbers from self reporting? If a phone was out (even if it was just on the driver’s lap or in the console?)

Yea based on the statistics, they just loop it in as "distracted driving"

So that could really be anything. I do wonder how they get cellphones.

It's FAR easier to test for Drugs or Alcohol when a crash occurs.

Definitely. Making it illegal would make it inherently harder to get, which means there will be fewer people drinking.

Making it illegal would only make it nontaxable. It might take a few months, but illegal alcohol would become readily available.
