Mine is getting long in the tooth and I need to upgrade.
I don't want a used one
15 handicap
Usually buy/play Cobras
Would like to keep the cash below $250 but it's not make or break
Let me hear some recommendations from my compadres on the OTB

I knew a couple of guys who played on the amateur circuit and they both loved the SLDR. This was about a year and a half ago so not up to date on anything new.

Taylormade and Titleist are great drivers, I hit them a long way. The adjustability in the new drivers is f ing great.
I have the M1 9.5° with the Aldila X-stiff shaft, and a Titleist 910d3 X-stiff shaft.

Get fitted for the Taylormade M2. It's long and forgiving.

I recently chose between the SLDR and the Big Bertha Alpha. The SLDR sounded better, the Bertha hit better. Great club except for the thud it makes when I make contact

I wouldn't care if it said frick you every time I hit it if it was long and where I was trying to put it.

Just bought this one (Callaway XR 9 degree stiff) the other day and it is amazing.

At first I thought you were talking about someone who drives you around.

With a 15 handicap you probably don't hit your driver much farther than a 3 wood off the tee. All your getting with the driver is loss of control. Try playing a few rounds without the driver and see how it goes.
That said, err on the side of higher loft in the driver - get a 10.5 degree model that can be adjusted up to 12 or down to 9 degrees. Always buy models that are a year or two old to save money. Don't get too stiff of a shaft. Try it before you buy it.

I got the Cobra Fly Z driver, not the Plus model. Custom Shaft, Standard Flex, 1/16 Over on the grip. I had the shaft cut 1 inch for my build of 5'10"
It is adjustable from 9 to 12 degrees, with two adjustments for Draws at 9.5 and 10.5 degrees. I currently have it set at no draw and 10 degrees.
Sometimes hitting 250 to 260, down the fairway, usually 230 to 240. I actually can drive it further set at 9 degrees but I have more trouble with keeping it in the fairway at 9 degrees. I am 67, very pleased with it. Picked up an easy 30 to 40 yards on my drives at 10 degrees.
$177 with military discount online from Cobra, including shipping

Honestly, I wouldn't think twice about buying a good used driver or at the least, last year's model driver for a big discount.
As far as recommendations, there are a ton of really good drivers out there. If you want a big head driver that is a solid all around performer, the Ping G series is a good one that you can use with a mediocre swing and still use it when you get better.
Titleist drivers are awesome but I have always considered them for better players, the head is a very traditional looking shape and look.
I had issues with my old Taylormade R11s and most Taylormade drivers in general due to their narrow lower section of the face. My misses tend to be low inside with my swing and low inside is a horrific place to hit a Taylormade driver.
My tip for you when looking at clubs in general, look at how they will handle your misses. All clubs will perform when you are striping the ball, will they help cover your misses a bit?

It's hard to beat what Taylormade has going on right now in drivers. With a 15hcp the guy that posted about getting one you can adjust to a higher loft with the right shaft and setup your game off the tee should improve. I don't like the SLDR series but the R series or even older Burner series are great drivers. Titleist makes great drivers also but they are alot less forgiving on off center hits. If you're on Facebook there is a group on there that sells chances for all kinds of golf equipment they draw every weekend.

So you're better than a bogey golfer?
