Stumbled across this video on youtube, apparently it's not that uncommon in parts of the south. Any of y'all tried it before, and if so how was it?

Squirrel, rabbit, tuttle, bass, catfish, beam, dove, duck, goat, water buffalo(overseas), goose, snake, possum (only once its terrible), crab, shrimp, crawfish, deer, bear, racoon, dandelions.

My dads family were very rustic mountain folks in east Tennessee and ate very well. The all had small gardens and canned alot. Many times we would kill dinner after lunch. Overseas I didn't ask what the meat was. The water buffalo was in Thailand and I knew what it was because the compound guards killed it.

Squirrels is good eating.....a blast to shout also....some of the best memories of childhood floating a creek, popping squirrels and woodies with a savage 20 gauge 22 over / under and pitching rooster tails for bream, bass and crappie.

Any of you who hunt squirrels know why you carry a 20 ga 22 over / under. We thought it was perfectly acceptable back in the day....I wouldn’t do it today but back in the day we thought it was how you hunted squirrels

I’m not a baw but I’m a gawl and I’ve eaten it. A community where several of my folks live put out a cookbook and my uncle had a recipe for squirrel in there, I would always giggle when I came across it because he specified young squirrels not old in the list of ingredients. I guess they either taste better or are more tender I don’t know.

Savage model 42 believe. I carried a 22 over .410 starting about 3 years old. They make a plastic version of it now 442. Just not the same.

No pigs nor bear?

Got taken once to this restaurant away's back in Polk County (state withheld) to get served something of specialty. I walked in and noticed the looks of he's a stranger. Till my buddy Sam wandered in a couple steps later for effect. Seems they were serving bear, it wasn't on the menu yet on every plate and table. I just followed suit. Later picked up it was word of mouth after a successful trip out with the dogs.
.
Squirrel, yes fired and smothered w/milk gravy.
