I'm talking about his other pictures. The ones that say high risk behavior.

Taking a picture with a gun isn't high risk. My 12 yr old niece has pictures with guns

So he should have been canvassing the stores getting referals and getting a promotion.

No surprise here that a black kid wasn't extended the benefit of the doubt... Neither by the police nor by some posters here.

It amazes me that all the time I see white suspects apprehended alive (e.g., Dylan Roof, Synagogue shooter)... And I can't recall a single high profile shooting where that happened with a black suspect. It seems when it comes to them it's shoot first ask questions later.

I know this take will rub some the wrong way, but this is how I (a black man) and many other people of color view it. Black Lives Matter wasn't started for shits and giggles. It was started because of a noticeable, often tragic, difference between how white and black suspects are treated.

That benefit of the doubt is exactly what many people mean when they refer to white privilege.

Exactly. So many white people hear that term "white priveledge" and think people are trying to say that all white people are born with a silver spoon in our mouths or some thing. The first time I heard the term I was confused too. Once you realize what that term is really talking about and open your eyes to all these little subtle things, like the way people look at you, you realize that it is without a doubt a real thing.

A lot of other people will just never admit they have any kind of advantage no matter what anyway.

Why isn't there a white history month? Why don't whites get preferential treatment in society? Why is it always the white man's fault?

Don't be fricking stupid and stay away from trash regardless of their skin color.

The whole "it's cuz he's black" shite is old. This is why we don't have progress.

Blacks hate white republicans when Lincoln was the one who ended slavery. Let's not forget that Africa was selling skaves.

Not trying to be "racist" here and I'm the one who wants progress, so please don't attack me lol.

I don't know the circumstances of his arrest. Was he pointing a gun at someone? Either way he should have ate lead.

OJ Simpson and John Allen Muhammad come to mind. Typically these only become high profile because a black male was killed and people start painting their narratives before the facts come out.

Why did you give him the benefit of the doubt other than his skin color?

Totally understand, but this is not universal. This benefit of the doubt is not given in every single situation. Also, the term has been weaponized by a large portion of our population to demonize people they don't agree with and used as an excuse. When this happens, heck yeah there will be backlash against the term.

White people's accomplishments are celebrated year round, sometimes they aren't even really their accomplishments being celebrated. There's no need to set aside extra time.

Our preferential treatment in society is being able to browse through a store without being followed like a thief, or being able to reach for our wallets during a traffic stop (after being asked to) without having to worry about being shot dead.

While you're at it jbond go look at the number of white people killed by police that weren't high profile.

how more many more people did the beltway sniper need to kill before they qualified as high profile to you? bonus points cause it was 2 of them, at once.

They couldn't find them because they were mobile and had a shooting platform in their vehicle. It was very high profile
