Help decide to go to Charleston or Savannah for Anniversary trip

So me and Mrs. Wishn will be celebrating our one year anniversary next month and are trying to decide between Charleston or Savannah to go for 3-4 days.
We don’t know much about either place but have always heard good things so just looking for help picking one.
Also tips on what areas to stay in, places to eat, etc. would be helpful. We aren’t really looking for your typical really romantic stuff as that’s just not really our thing and neither is nightlife, we just like to chill, eat, and relax.
I know Charleston has a lot of historical stuff and I’m interested in that so that’s a plus on its side but I am concerned in general just bc I’m not the best trip taker. I don’t give a flip about the beach and tend to get bored with things fairly quickly
Any thoughts would be appreciated

Lived in Savannah, frequented both. You can realistically do both on a long weekend. If I had to chose just one, Savannah easily.

Per usual, State fans can’t read

Savannah with the boys, Charleston with the lady

Went to Charleston a couple years ago for New Years with mrs prostyle and had a blast. Plenty of shite to do.
Middleton Place grounds are nice to walk around.
A shite ton of history and beautiful homes on the peninsula
Bout 300 good eating places
King Street is nice with a lot of shopping
Tea plantation was cool if you’re into that sort of stuff
Skip that fricking Firefly distillery though.
Eta: Never been to Savannah

Grew up in GA and have been to Savannah many times and I went to Charleston this past year for my own anniversary. It’s hard to think of why one would be better than the other, but if I had to choose to go to one again today, I’d probably pick Savannah.

Lived in both. Charleston by a country mile. Better restaurants, better historic district, better scenery, nicer people taken as a whole, beach is a lot closer and cleaner also. Plus you are not one wrong turn and a half a block walk until you’re in the hood getting mugged or worse. And this is from a Georgia born and bred home boy.

Fulton Lane in Charleston is romantic.
Poogan Porch is a cute restaurant.
Go to the French Market.

As a Savannah native who has spent time in both cities I agree with this.

Both are great and you need to go to both.
Savannah is much prettier and more scenic than Charleston. Although Charleston is beautiful.
The deal breaker here is August. Sav in August is brutal. Even though Charleston is very close, it isn't as brutally hot and humid. For that reason I say Chas.
But if you can go to Sav in a cooler month, definitely do it.
Savannah is probably the most scenic city in America.

Update-
My wife (who has lived in both cities) just surprised me with a Savannah vacation for anniversary in August (she didn't get my memo about being hot as frick).
We already had a Charleston vacation planned in September.
This is to illustrate that it isn't one or the other. Both are great and have their own charm.

It depends on your lifestyle.
Charleston is Prince William, classy, reserved , refined class.
Savannah is Prince Harry, has some of the same class as William but with a slightly dark seedy side of life thrown in.
Savannah allows you to party down without worrying what others think.
Charleston you can party down but be ready to explain to everyone around you that you don't normally act that way.
