I could be wrong, but I don't think you've had someone very close to you murdered or raped. Your mindset might change if say, your mother was raped and murdered.
And I don't believe in karma. I think the whole idea of karma is laughable.

The bible also says "an eye for an eye." Just throwing that out there.
Bottom line, if someone was threatening me or someone else, and I knew they would be killed or raped if I did nothing, I think I could pull the trigger. Otherwise, let them face God's punishment eventually.

Life in prison ain't cheap. Someone's gotta pay for it.

Not worth it.
What if they repent?

King David laughs at this hysterically... whilst being called a man after God's own heart

Screw answering for a murder or rape... If someone broke into my house I'm shooting to kill... I'm sure I'd have some PTS, especially if the robber was a younger individual but I'm not leaving anything to chance when it comes to my family.

I could never respect anyone who looked a rapist in the eye and thought that person deserved to live.

Well, we can't have a society that allows people to run around being vigilantes. Chaos would reign, and no one would be safe. If you seek to kill people who have done terrible things, what makes you better than them? I don't believe anyone should sink to that level unless they are threatened, or see someone in danger.

Unless he's killing or raping someone close to me, then I don't give a shite he can live.

I would have 0 remorse about killing a rapist or murderer that committed either crime against a loved one.

I wouldn't say killing a rapist is sinking to their level.

Thinking someone doesn't deserve to live and being the one to actually make that reality are two entirely different things.

Someone rapes a child
I kill them
Is that considered sinking to their level? I don't think so. But people have different outlooks.

It changes when you become a parent. I would not feel any regret about killing him, although my husband would probably get the job done before me.

How is it different with a child and any loved one?
Posted on 3/13/13 at 10:03 pm to cas4t
I spent several years on the Board of Directors for a shelter that worked with abused and neglected kids. There was also an advocacy center there that provided medical treatment and counseling for kids who were victims of sexual abuse. Kids who are victims of sexual abuse deal with that trauma for the rest of their lives - I saw that first hand. So trust me, I have no sympathy for anyone who would rape a child. There is no pit of hell deep enough for them.
But I couldn't just hunt someone down and kill them in cold blood unless I witnessed them committing a horrible crime. I'm not a LEO.

this!
lost my sister in the same way, and sometimes it feels that my life won't be complete unless I can take that POS's last breathe of life right out of him myself.
eta: I've had my talk with God, I can pull the trigger, there'll be no hesitation if I'm ever afforded the opportunity. The guy the cops believe did it is in the pen on another murder they where they could get enough circumstantial evidence for the conviction. No one would testify in my sister's case. If he's ever paroled, you'll know where I'll be.
