Yes. My job made everyone stay in town and I missed an amazing Phish festival because of it. Still bitter.

My street had an End of the World block party. There were questionable hookups between friends and neighbors, two different people fell into a bonfire trying to long jump over it, and my next door neighbor had to rip out some vomit saturated carpet.
The world didn't end, but the hangovers the next day made it feel like it did.

I work in IT, and we knew there was no Y2K problem, but still had to respond as if we were concerned for appearances. So I sat in the Entergy data center on the Westbank until midnight, ran a few minutes of scripted tests, then went out and had a good time.
