Detroit auto show 2019: Why GM, Ford, Toyota are bringing dead cars back to life

quote:

As the 2019 Detroit auto show begins this week with media previews, dead cars are coming back to life with a supernatural vengeance.

The resurrection trend now includes Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Jeep and Toyota, which are all resuscitating models that were discontinued years ago.

quote:

The Ford Ranger midsize pickup truck is making a comeback this year.

quote:

The Ford Bronco SUV is heading to dealerships as a 2020 model.

quote:

The new Gladiator, which was originally sold in the 1960s, debuted in a show-stopping reveal at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November.

quote:

General Motors weeks ago began selling a new SUV called the Chevy Blazer, which takes inspiration from several models of old, including the Chevy TrailBlazer, which faded out about a decade ago.

What lost cars/trucks would you like to see come back?

Ugh, no imagination in today's car designs.

I would never, ever buy any dodge/chrysler vehicle ever, but I would buy one of these.

Very weak effort on the Blazer. Had a 1988 Blazer and that was the best hunting vehicle I have owned.

Weird you put the Cressida. My first car in 03 was a 1985 Cressida. Haha. Comfy arse seats, electric seatbelt, and moon roof made. And the inline 6 got up and would haul. I don't know how I never flipped that sucker on bouncy curvy country roads.

That Ford Bronco is slick. Used to be a damn good rig back in the day.

I want to see the Pontiac GTO come back. It never should have went away.

I also like those old Nissan 300zx's. I almost bought one when I was younger but it was vetoed by my father. Loved that car. It was replaced by the 350Z and in my opinion, it isn't near as slick. V6, twin turbo

Those old K5 Blazers were bad arse. My dad had one of those for forever. I bet that thing had half a million miles on it by the time it finally quit and we drove that thing DEEP into the woods to go deer hunting every weekend. Good rig.

I have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe 2 door 4x4. I love that truck. But I’d like to own a 1987 K5. First year they brought back the 350 and it was fuel injected.

The blazer should of been put on the new colorado frame instead instead it's a bigger version of an equinox

A lot of those old cars like the Pinto are actually pretty awesome if they're modded out. .

One of my favorite cars ever was an old '76 Plymouth Duster. The one I had had a police interceptor small block 360 in it and would scream down the road. It would have looked just like an average, crappy car until the dude who had it before me put some nice-ish wheels and tires on it and added some window tinting and a 400 horsepower motor.

Loved that car. Didn't get to drive it very long though. I was young and reckless. That eventually got the overrule as well.

I loved the Cressida. One of my first jobs in college was working for a guy who had one of the last ones built. Serious sleeper with Toyota reliability. I loved those things. That being said...I love the RWD Maximas, too.

Drove a 1996 Two-door Tahoe for a year or so when I was younger. I wish I had never sold it. Those need to make a return.

The first Pintos with the German 2.0L were actually pretty fun cars. My parents had a 1971 or 72 model...I can't remember which, in Grabber Blue.
