Arkansas can take a lesson from Alabama here for the next time we try to legalize it. Ours was a voter initiative and the group spearheading the campaign had to get signatures for two years. It got on the ballot, but lost 51-49.

I hope we can get a state congressman to introduce a bill to the general assembly in 2014.

A group I was involved with had AMMJC (Med marijuana group) speak at UA. What they are doing, in my opinion, is honorable work. Unfortunately, I think liberalizing the pot laws in Alabama is a Sisyphean task

They're obviously more idealistic than me.

even if it passed, it wouldn't matter for me. Any accident on the job and I'd be history

still haven't smoked in the last nine years...

It ain't happening. Bama still has dry counties, after the last elections, when the choice was there for them to go wet. If alcohol isn't even getting support in many areas, pot won't be.

I have to agree with this. Bama still has too many old guard voters that will vote against this.

Well, to be fair, if this bill were to pass, that would happen all the time, and you damn well know it, same as regular cigarettes now.

We put more people in jail than North Korea and you focus on the idiots who will abuse their children regardless of the law?

Young people smoke more cigs more than pot. To say this law wouldnt increase drug use in teens is simply false.

Dude, you've been on fire! hahahahaahaha

btw, y'all... he's dead right. Alabama is the most conservative state in the US. We will be the LAST to legalize it. gd it... one of the only things i get a little pissy about living here. conservatives other than a few like me need to wake up and change some social issue stances!
