We don't have to keep up bad policy for appearances sake

We are making the whole middle east into major enemies.

That is never going to change. The rest of the Middle Eastern countries will never recognize the right of the Israel to exist as a sovereign state. The United States will never allow Muslim countries to follow through on the oft repeated intent to wipe the Jews from the face of the earth. That is what every bit of this is ultimately about.

The only option our government sees, regardless of party, is to combat the extremists, and practice diplomacy with the moderates. It has worked, more or less, for 65 years, and it's unlikely to change anytime soon.

Which is fricking ironic considering that Israel has one of the most well equipped, well trained militaries in the world and could wipe most middle eastern countries off of the map before they even knew that it was coming.

It's not ironic. The US has backed Israel since 1948.

They don't need backing. They can take care of themselves.

Besides, they don't give a frick about this country. They do what is in their own best interest.

We use them as an excuse to maintain a presence in the middle east and it's not gonna change until we find a way to make energy without oil or they tun outta oil over there. That's thevway it is and will always be

And a stable Israel is in the best interest of the US.

Do you think we side with Israel for no reason?

Obviously not. Our gov't does it for their own personal gain as well.

Don't get your panties in a bind, Stonehog. You're going to stroke out because of this website someday.

I'll give you a "tip"...he was no Auburn Tiger.

Try not to "juggle" that info into anything else...esp "so late" in the night.

Letting this become a religious war isn't desirable, and I don't think it'll happen again.

Israel took care of that themselves in the intercommunal war and the 7 days war.

I did a simple Google search. No proof he was part of the family.

Japan was already about to surrender

Wait, let me say that again.

A very significant part of the Japanese military was still wanting to fight after the fire bomb raids you mentioned (which were indeed close to or more deadly) and the leveling of two cities by single bombs (a capability we take for granted today but was unthinkable outside of a very few in 1945).

Hell, they even attempted a coup to prevent the emperor's surrender broadcast.

Those bombs were the only thing that eliminated the invasion.
