It sounds like the US got him with a drone strike, but they are saying it was rivals Al Shabob.

Did any of you guys know him? I know he was a big time Auburn fan, and use to go to a lot of games. Anybody ever see him? Know anyone that knew him? I'll never forget watching that documentary where they showed his message on a Jihadist message board that said "war eagle, time for Jihad yall" I know it's not a funny thing, but I laughed pretty damn hard.

Now I know he was Auburn through and through, but when you take up arms in the name of Allah against your own country then it doesn't really make you safer.

Anybody think Auburn will hold a halftime ceremony for him during the Iron Bowl?

Then something known as a trial or at least a military tribunal should take place.

Just sending a death missile is just so counter to our form of gov't and principles.

With the current precedent could the USA kill you without a trial if you are accused of something illegal?

So you're ok with indiscriminate carpet bombing, but drone strikes are a no no?

Yeah I wish the American government could have spent millions on putting the 9/11 hijackers on trial....

I was just stating the obvious. I haven't even expressed my personal opinions.

"Enemy combatants" don't always deserve a trial. I'm guessing you knew him? Did yall use to go to Jordan Hare together?

I see the disconnect. It wasn't a "death missile" - It was a "hey, 'sup" missile.

Now he knows 'sup

I'm almost always against war.

My issue is that the US government is not able to unilaterally murder individuals, even if they are really, really mean.

The precedent is that the gov't can kill you too, if you are accused of something illegal.

First off, there is no evidence this was a US drone strike at all.

Second, your "precedent" is invalid. He wasn't just doing something illegal, he was a wanted terrorist living in Somalia.

The USA has done illegal attacks in several countries including Somalia, Yemen, and Pakistan.

They are warcrimes, but I guess Middle Eastern children dying at our hands isn't as important as it seems.

Middle Eastern children dying at our hands has been happening for decades. Convenient that people start caring when it's not their guy in the White House pulling the trigger.

Let me guess, you hate Obama because he's a "war criminal." You're also probably a "Libertarian."

I couldn't vote for the last president and I didn't follow it as closely.

Now that I see they are both murderers I am not happy. Both should be shamed for the 200+children that have been murdered.

Including the drone "double taps" where the drone destroys a building, waits for first responders and then shoots again to inflict casualties.

How did you feel about Truman dropping nukes on innocent children?

It was terrible, but it ended the war. Sometimes the ends justify the means, even if the means don't make us feel warm and fuzzy.

Not what we are talking about.

I said the USA is a bunch of hypocritical monsters for murdering people outside the scope of war.

Except it doesn't. What if your parents were killed in this illegal war? Would you still be so "ends justify the means" then?

You mean if I was living in America and my parents were terrorists living in Somalia? Yeah, I would have the same opinion.
