I had a really weird experience this morning where I saw an Instagram post that I remembered seeing in a dream a week or so ago. Is this a common thing? Am I smoking too much weed?

Happens to me all the time but not necessarily in dream form. Could be confabulation but I swear it’s actually happened. An example might be that for whatever reason my brain will start thinking about a customer of mine that I haven’t been to in years (HVAC tech/owner) and by the end of the day that person calls in requesting service. It creeps me out. And that happens way more often than it should.

I also get serious cases of dejavu where I will all of a sudden feel like I’ve been in the situation I’m presently in before exactly as it is and furthermore I’m cognizant of the fact I thought I was having dejavu both presently and in the past. It’s creepy as hell.

I cannot tell you how often this happens now. Before this year I hadn’t had a dream since I was in highschool. It wouldn’t bother me but it keeps happening.

I dreamed my old man died. Cried in his arms that morning before getting on the bus. He died the next night.

Edited to add: I have a real fear of dreams coming true now. I had a dream a colleague got into a motorcycle accident and called them that morning and asked them to please take the car.

Deja vu. This is what it feels like when I have deja vu.

Then how am I, or any of us, dreaming something that hasn’t occurred yet??

Twice

1. I had a dream that I got tripped on the playground and ruined my face, and then 2 days later I was tripped running across the concrete basketball court during recess and scrapped one side of my face to hell. Wasn't a total loss... I got some sick little league baseball photos that weekend.

2. Dale Jr. hadn't won in years and then I dreamt it and he won at Michigan the next weekend.

This has happened to me on several occasions.

Also have a lot of lucid dreams.

Not sure if this is good or bad.

For twenty years I had the same dream about a haunted house in my town on Main street. Every time I wake up I felt so silly because they don't even have that house on main street, or so I thought. Sunday I'm down main street and what do I see but that freaking house. WTF!!!

Precognitive dreams, a fascinating look into the human psyche.

Not really in terms of dreams becoming reality. But I'm a programmer who has to design systems and deal with unique problems from time to time.

I have often times come up with the answer to those problems while sleeping/dreaming.

.. again not in dreams.

But sometimes I just know something without any fore knowledge. For instance: were hauling arse along some dirt roads in the Bob Marshall wilderness area, me and two buddies, as we approached a hard left I blurted out Moose... and as we rounded the turn there was Mamma and a calf standing in the road. The calf took off down the middle of the road for about 3/4 of a mile in front of us. We'd of creamed it without having just braked coming into the turn. They both wanted to know how I made the call from the back seat.

Another was a card game and there was this one guy who I didn't want to take his money (long story). Again this feeling and I said don't bet... it's an Ace. Three times don't I know it's an ace (clubs). Everyone in the room gathered... once again mouths dropped. Another a backgammon tournament, people from all over the country, I won and a guy comes up afterward... I've been watching all night.. that one bad move (you only made one obvious sketcky one) how did you know? One more was a bare spot on top of a hill that always gave me the Willy's. It was on a trail as a kid that we frequented. Years later I'm talking to a guy at the nearest convenience store and he told me he learned there's a coven of witches that meet on top of that hill. Doesn't happen often and it's a strange different unique feel.

It's happened enough that my normal whitewater buddies (we like doing unknown or to us 1st descents) will follow me if we're bombing down blind and I shake my head no to the other side. For no other reason than bad-juju. If it's getting near dark and we need to get out fast they all say you lead. Had a group of about thirty (we picked up four or five groups) that had all run into major problems with extreme high water and they all went with my intuition by the end of the day. They'd just go how do you know... and I'd shake my head... I don't know how. Just don't go over there.

This type of thread fascinates me. I love hearing about stuff like that. More please.

What if our day to day life is the dream, but when we sleep thats the real life we venture to.

Out on a relay and we run up on a disabled vehicle blocking the roadway.

We cautiously exit our vehicle to investigate and a voice starts yelling they’re alone and a fire fight ensues.

I can only recall my dreams if I’m laying down with my eyes closed and very relaxed. Once I’m in that zone, I can remember dreams from weeks or months back that I haven’t thought of since the day I had the dream. There are always a few that come to me first and foremost
