There has been a low pressure trough hanging out near the MS/AL state line and everything to the west of that has essentially stalled creating all of this convective activity we are seeing. Essentially a tropical storm formed right off the coast line and made land fall as it developed

It's going to spread out a lot before it gets in our house. Going to take a huge volume of water to lift it enough. Possible, but im being optimistic because what else can I do.

Damn, right next to the bayou.

They pulled my cop friend and his wife and two little girls out by boat this morning. As they were riding out, the Amite was coming in. Hwy 16 near 1019 and 1024.

Watch out for moccasins. They're going to be pretty grumpy.

I spent my youth killing Moccasins and copper heads out of that bayou. They have a few monster snakes in that area.

The one thing I remember from the last great flood was finding a massive King snake in the water

There was a subtle joke there, if you hadn't caught it.

Thanks. I was thinking tropical storm-like low several days ago. Glad to know what's causing it. Maybe it'll get pushed out by the front descending into the Southeast.

I'm in BR. It's flooded out a good bit around us but we're in a good spot. Never seen anything like this before. "Unprecedented"shite.
