I think this article explains why the British have not been a lightning rod of blame for slavery in North America. For anyone who has studied slavery during the time before America gained independence from Britain, it’s clear that the British were primarily responsible for establishing slavery in the Western Hemisphere.
The article focuses on Britain’s establishment of slavery in the Caribbean, but they built slavery in the colonies, especially in the South, long before the US revolted. They should be held accountable for their leading role in the slavery trade.

I agree with the gist of what you're saying (I think), but "they" died a long time ago. No sense in holding any present day British person accountable.

Company I work for is probably 50% black, and they're all cool as hell. Just one climate dude I'm aware of, and he's 60 and white.

I'm confused. They weren't enslaved? They just claim they were slaves but really weren't? Not disputing there have been slaves of all races and origins, but your point seems to say it didn't really happen.

Ahhhh, I get it now. So there was slavery in the U.S but it was at acceptable levels here.
