Jay-Z isn't out there discouraging Beyonce from posting photos alongside white people or saying he's not cool with white people attending his basketball games.
No. But he does promote the idea that he's better than the white man by being a 5 %er.
Advertising that is just as bad as anything Sterling said.

Agree.
Also, have I mentioned that I'm not a Jay-Z fan?

You did, but you also said on page one that he's not like Sterling when he's actually worse racially if possible.

I said he's not discouraging Beyonce from being photographed with whites or saying he doesn't want her bringing white people to games. Which he has not--my analogy still stands on that limited front (thank goodness).
I am not about to condone this 5% shite. Good freaking frick that's some out there shite

Also,.....have I mentioned that I'm NOT a Jay-Z fan?

"frick Brooklyn," to quote the Raptors' GM

Dammit. Troll denied.

Disagree. Showing respect and equality for others is equal across the board... This racial slur has so much hurt carried over from generations why anyone would use it is beyond me... Jayz might not say it with the same type ignorance as the other guy but it's still uncalled for..Honestly, the other guy is an idiot but we all know that, but Jay z is well respected and idolized by a a lot of our younger kids. His words will carry a lot more influence than some guy most people has hardly heard of...In short the word should be off limits no matter what your skin color may be.

That's a conversation for black people to have amongst themselves, tbh. The word was a slur for generations by whites against blacks, and now white people are saying blacks can't use it at all? That's not a call non-blacks get to make, IMHO.
And we're getting a little off topic: I only brought up Jay-Z as a counter-example because he's the only black owner that I'm familiar with (and truth be told, I don't know many NBA owners: Peter Holt (SA--because I'm a Spurs fan), the Maloof brothers (Sacramento--because they've been in the news recently), Jay-Z (Because he's a notable celeb), Mark Cuban (because frick Dallas, that's why

The only reason I brought him up was to make an analogy: he's not discouraging Beyonce from bringing white people to Nets games or being photographed with them. That's it. Not going to defend that 5% garbage, as that's a whole 'nother can of worms, but at the very least, he's not doing what DS just did.

We can agree to disagree on this one... Because I totally disagree...

I agree. Al isn't race baiting here, he's just being honest. And we also need to highlight the concept of being "allowed" in this scenario. The other 29 NBA owners have a responsibility to make him give it up. This isn't some hyper-libertarian world we live in where the market is only exercised at the cash register. Public relations are a part of the free market as well, and this is a PR nightmare. There is an extensive list of bylaws that the fellow owners can use, the Commissioner can do tons of shite, and his fellow owners can speak out against him and condemn him.
frick Donald Sterling. The guy is a racist prick, and I don't want him to be a part of the NBA, especially not in an ownership capacity.

False. The community took that word and turned it in to a term of endearment. Sure, people still use it the racist way, but more and more kids are growing up without the n-word being nasty but something else completely, and I think that's the greater good.

That is too funny. A racist calling a racist "racist."

A term of endearment? Are you serious? The greater good would be to educate the younger generation on why they shouldn't use it... Instead, you're saying look past all the hatred the word has caused and flip it to use it as a term of endearment...wow.
