From Al: "No one should be allowed to own a team if they have in fact engaged in this kind of racial language".

Do you agree?

Depends on what the ownership rules are. I'm not sure what they are, so I will refrain from agreeing or disagreeing.

Does that mean Jay Z has to give up his ownership rights as well for using the N word?

Owners can't get rid of Sterling unless he has issues paying the bills.... The NBA collective bargaining agreement isn't as strong as MLB. The commish doesn't have enough power

That's what I thought. I would just stop going to games if it offended me enough.

I agree with Al (and I hardly ever agree with the man on anything, but that's really neither here nor there on this issue).

And, tduecen, this isn't even close to the same thing as Jay-Z and you know it.

I don't agree with the Sterling's racist bullshite but nobody should be banned from owning something because of their personal beliefs.

I'm to the point of wondering if this is overblown like the thing with Paula Dean... She made a comment 30 years ago when the N word was basically common place to describe an African American and was labeled a racist....

Sterling may have made some insensitive/stupid comments but that doesn't have to mean he is a racist either

Well he already gave them up IIRC. Just not for that reason.

Yeah, I believe an owner should be able to do and say pretty much whatever he wants. At the same time there is a price to pay if you offend your customers.

..... Yes it does. It doesn't get any clearer than that. Also this isn't his first incident.

Al Sharpton strikes me as a high-functioning retarded person, so I'm hesitant to agree with him about anything.

Why? He speaks of them being thugs, gangs, ho's, hookers, pumps, drug dealers, murderers, etc

So that's not stereotyping. And he talks about hating certain N's

You're a super fricking racist if you don't think what he says is MORE offensive and racial....no matter if he is black or not!
If you want it stopped, NO frickING DOUBLE STANDARDS!

Jay-Z isn't out there discouraging Beyonce from posting photos alongside white people or saying he's not cool with white people attending his basketball games.

I'm sure privately Jay Z has made some stupid comments on white people he just didn't have those comments secretly taped.

Honestly, we've probably all made racist/insensitive comments which is not indicative of our character. Sterling may be a racist based on his history, or he may be an old man who just hasn't caught up with the times and doesn't give a crap. When he was growing up, this was a common place theme and you would think owning a NBA team would change things but still.

I mean his GF is part black, he was the first owner to give a black man the title of GM, etc.... Is he racist or just fricking stupid to continue to make the comments? Granted they were in his defense a private conversation that he had no idea was being taped.
